In this tweet Eric Feigl-Ding points at some important detail:

A dangerously misleading “study” that claims masks cause kids CO2 damage… COMPLETE HORSESHIT—what author Walach did was actually measure the temporary “dead space” inside the mask. Dead space in a mask or snorkel Diving mask is not most of the air inhaled!
@JAMA_current needs to retract!

This RCT of masks in kids is FATALLY FLAWED. Read our comment, and those of others. There are strong grounds for retracting this paper.

This randomized clinical trial measured inhaled and exhaled carbon dioxide in children with and without face masks.

Pls have a look at the embedded video on the website of the Austrian far right magazine "Wochenblick": this is how Helmut Traindl (the technical expert implementing the experiment for #Walach et al.) is doing the CO2-measurements! This is ridiculous.

"Sachverständiger beweist live: CO2-Werte unter Masken gesundheitsschädlich
Der gerichtlich beeidete Sachverständige Ing. Dr. Helmut Traindl hat vor laufender Kamera die CO2 Werte unter einer selbstgemachten und zwei handelsüblichen Corona-Schutzmasken gemessen. Dabei..."

What "expert" Traindl says in that video is not so important. Important is the device he uses. In one of the supplements of the "Letter" the model of the device Walach et al. used, is given. But I think that there is something wrong with that. The model name seems to be used for several devices. I found 2, and they do not look like the one Traindl uses in this video.

Two important details:

1. Walach is totally incompetent. In this tweet "SimpleMetricTon" shows 2 screenshots:

He asked Walach about the oxygen level. Walach answers that the oxygen level always was 99 percent.

2. The device and how it is used

The device in the video has a tube of about 1m length leading to the mask. This tube has a volume which can not be ignored. For each measurement it has to be filled with air, which is subtracted from the air under the mask, this way falsificating the gas mixture under the mask.

The device purrs all the time, which means that it is sucking air out from under the mask, falsificating the mixture under the mask.

As far as I could find out the device needs about 20 seconds for getting ONE measurement done. During this duration the person with the mask breathes several times. To really get SOME useful values, the measurements should be done at least every 1/10 of a second. "Expert" Traindl of course should know that. So either he is TOTALLY incompetend or a fraud. The same I say about Walach.

To nail him there I need a time-diagram of a person breathing. With this the input and output of gas can be explaind to the public, and can be shown how Walach et al. forge.

After Walach's incredibly stupid "study" about cases of death by Covid-19 vaccines the University in Poznan terminated the affiliation with Walach:

We wish to emphasize that the claims included in dr Harald Walach’s recent article in @Vaccines_MDPI do not represent the position of @PUMS_tweets. We find that the article lacked scientific diligence and proper methodology. Dr. Walach’s affiliation with PUMS was now terminated.

But they did not mention WHAT kind of affiliation it was. Walach claimed to be a professor there in Poznan. But I suspect that this was not true, or was true only partially.

In this article Walach is described as "currently a freelance scientist and writer with a visiting affiliation with the Medical University Poznan, Poland."

Notes on contributor

Harald Walach has been a research director at the University Hospital of Freiburg, Germany (1999–2005), a research professor at the University of Northampton, UK (2005–2009), Director of the Institute of Transcultural Health Studies and leader of a postgraduate MA training course in Cultural Sciences and Complementary Medicine at the European University Viadrina, Frankfurt (Oder), Germany (2010–2016). He is currently a freelance scientist and writer with a visiting affiliation with the Medical University Poznan, Poland.

My impression is that Walach is not giving the real relation he had in Poznan University. I think it is important to ask the university about that.

The plot by Walach is much larger than you might guess. So this detail in the statement by the Poznan university is extremely important:

"We find that the article lacked scientific diligence and proper methodology. "

Why do I think it is important? Because methodology was THE key element of Walach's job as a professor at the Viadrina.

When the endowed professorship ("Stiftungsprofessur") of Walach at the Viadrina ended on 29. January 2017, they wrote:

https://www.europa-uni.de/de/struktur/unileitung/pressestelle/viadrina-logbuch/berufungen/20160129-walach/Abschied-Walach/index.html

"Prof. Dr. Dr. Harald Walach, bisheriger Inhaber der Stiftungsprofessur für Forschungsmethodik Komplementäre Medizin und Heilkunde wurde am 29. Januar von Präsident Prof. Dr. Alexander Wöll verabschiedet. Seit 2010 war Prof. Dr. Dr. Harald Walach Inhaber der Stiftungsprofessur für Forschungsmethodik Komplementäre Medizin und Heilkunde. Die Stiftungsprofessur war zum 31. Januar 2016 ausgelaufen. Der Philosoph und Psychologe leitet weiterhin das Institut für Transkulturelle Gesundheitswissenschaften an der Europa-Universität."

So, when the Poznan Univertiy quits with Walach because of his incompetence in methodology, that is a total disaster. He failed in his very own working field.

Walach's time at the Viadrina was (you might already have guessed) a total disaster. The affair with the "Kozyrev mirror" was so horrible, that his institute was to be closed. The Brandenburgische Hochschulstrukturkommission advised that. But he was able to get his neck out of the loop. This, again, shows some incredible facts about both the Viadrina and the University of Poznan.

In this forum thread several papers are shown, which deal with "quality assurance" at the Viadrina:

http://www.transgallaxys.com/~kanzlerzwo/index.php?topic=10804.msg31533#msg31533

As it turns out, "quality assurance" is NOT what you might guess. For the Viadrina it means to keep the "internationality". THIS is done by having connections with other institutions in other countries, like the University of Poznan, in Poland.

So, when they talk about "quality assurance", it actually means connections to persons and institutions in other countries. On the other hand about the same seems to be true for the university in Poznan.

Now, when the Brandenburgische Hochschulstrukturkommission advised to close down Walach's institute, he still could stay at the Viadrina (fed by an endowed professorship), because he managed to start a new cooperation with the university in Poznan to support the "quality assurance" of the Viadrina with a new study model.

So, de facto, they do networking, and call that quality. I consider that a cheap fake.

Looking at the "professorship" of Walach in Poznan AFTER his endowed professorship ended in 2017: that professorship in Poznan still was kept. How and why? I think it would be useful to ask the university in Poznan about that, because it would shine a light on what he really did.

All of this might not seem important. But there is something: Harald Walach is a very important key person for the homeopathy manufacturer scene. It is that scene which donates endowed professorships and also has other ways to finance their public-relation motors like Walach.

When, now, Walach is so dramatically kicked out in Poznan, that is a severe blow to the homeopathy scene. And not only that. The university of Witten/Herdecke halted the visiting professorship of Walach in Witten/Herdecke, right after they learned about the disaster with the vaccine "study":

Witten/Herdecke is THE mothership of the Anthroposophs in Germany, which, again, is a money organizing background behind pharmaceutical companies manufacturing anthroposophic "medicaments" ... AND donating endowed professorships...

It is utmost important to have PR persons with academic titles, expecially INTERNATIONALLY working professors ("if he works in an other country, he must be good"). Now, with losing his 2 professorships (and why he lost them) Walach is no longer a PR motor, but a millstone at the neck of the homeopathic and anthroposophic industry.

The disaster is at a much higher level and has a much higher intensity than a simply crappy "paper" might suggest.

Harald Walach is a history of dramatic failures. And this man is a key PR motor of the "alternative" medicine. That fits, doesn't it?
