Homeopathy deadly for Muslims
« on: July 01, 2023, 10:55:24 AM »

Ort des Geschehens: Indien. Die Geschichte ist das, was man für gewöhnlich einen "double whammy" nennt, einen doppelten Hammer. Knockout für Homöopathie und Knockout für religiösen Wahnsinn.

"I am not sure why Homeopathy still exist. It is quackery of the first degree. Where else would you see a "doctor" prescribing alcohol and pork as medicines for a Muslim patient? Depressing and pathetic. Shut down Homeopathy colleges and ban Homeopathy practice. We need doctors, not Homeopaths."

TheLiverDoc @theliverdr ist bekannt. Er ist ein indischer Arzt, der - unter anderem - gegen Homöopathie schreibt.

*Trigger Warning*

Recently, there was an uproar within the general community regarding presence of "cuttle fish" in a "vegetarian" toothpaste called "Divya Dant Manjan."

The makers of the product, Patnajali - owned by self-styled godman Baba Ramdev and his aide, Acharya Balkrishna were served a legal notice for using ‘cuttlefish bones’ in dental care product marked "vegetarian." - https://theprint.in/india/patanjali-gets-legal-notice-for-using-cuttlefish-bones-in-dental-care-product-marked-vegetarian/1581342/

My true story is far worse.

I had one of the worst patient encounters yesterday in my OPD. Literally the worst, that made me sweat buckets and gave me palpitations.

"Worst," as in for the patient, because they (the patient and family) are devastated - both physically, mentally, emotionally and "culturally."

And the one thing that was common to all of these negative outcomes was a quackery therapy and the lack of knowledge on medical science, the lack of empathy in the "doctor" and the general misinformation on healthcare that haunts our patients and the community as a whole.

Please read on.

A middle aged man with stable cirrhosis was advised safe and effective treatment by his relatives. After asking around, the patient's son found that the best "doctor" around was a Homeopathy practitioner who goes by the name Dr.S.Bala.K. So the patient lands up in the Dr.S.Bala.K's OPD and he starts the treatment.

12 to 16 months of treatment with only the Homeopathy formulations and nothing else, the patient develops severe progressive jaundice and liver failure. After an exhaustive evaluation that ruled out all common causes of sudden onset jaundice and liver failure in a previosuly stable chronic liver disease patient, it was determined that the cause of liver injury were the Homeopathic formulations.
We retrieved them.

Tens of hundreds of small bottles of formulations that the patient had over the many months were mother tinctures - we know that the mother tinctures were concentrated alcohol - but the other ingredients in the mother tinctures remain unknown - because these alcoholic mother tinctures that are prescribed as medicines were made by the Homeopathic practitioner himself and dispensed from his own pharmacy (which is a classical/traditional way of Homeopathic practice). No labels and no ingredient listing.

Mother tinctures are heavy forms of alcohol - so much that when Bihar Govt banned alcohol sales at one point, they also asked Homeopathy practitioners in the State to destroy their "mother tincture medicines" too - because it was just alcohol.
https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/patna/what-to-do-with-mother-tinctures-after-ban-on-sale-of-alcohol-homoeopaths-ask-bihar-cm/articleshow/51620999.cms

This patient had possibly developed severe alcohol related liver injury over the course of his Homeopathy treatment - the bad news - he is a teetotaler and worse, a pious and Muslim - follows the Islamic Law and alcohol is "haram" or forbidden as per Islamic Law. He did not know that the Homeopathy "doctor" was serving him alcohol as a medicine all these years. He just "trusted" the "doctor."

That Homeopathic formulations cause liver injury and liver failure in chronic liver disease patients was proven by my group in this peer-reviewed publication.
A series of homeopathic remedies-related severe drug-induced liver injury from South Indiahttps://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36757412/

But the real tragedy was only begining. The patient's son, also gives me some powders and tablets that his father was having along with the alcohol-laden Homeopathic formulations. I look at the contents and suddenly realize that things were far worse.

When the patient complained of gas-trouble or dyspepsia, the Homeopath, Dr.S.Bala.K used to prescribe him these powders and tablets to take care of his bloating. The formulation was marked "Pepsinum 3x."

Pepsinum is a Homeopathic remedy given for "bloating/gas" very commonly. But many would not know that Pepsinum is made from the stomach of PIG. The Homeopathic Materia Medica states that this product is made by mixing pig's fresh stomach/lining of stomach and mixing it with milk sugar - https://materiamedica.info/en/materia-medica/john-henry-clarke/pepsinum

Yes - the powder and pills the patient who follows Islamic Law and a pious Muslim was consuming over the years contained the most forbidden product according to their religious/cultural beliefs - Pork.
Commercial pepsin is extracted from the glandular layer of PIG stomachshttps://redefininghomeopathy.com/2016/12/30/2097/

Now what did Homeopathy do here?
A stable cirrhosis patient, who is supposed to live a good quality life of more than 10 years without complications - if he was on scientific medical care, was now fighting for his life because of liver failure brought on by fraudulent and quackery treatment.

The fact is that the patient may die without a liver transplant because he has acute-on-chronic liver failure and the young man will lose his father if they cant afford a liver transplant or do not get a donor in time.

Homeopathy not only snatched a life away early - it did it by dehumanizing the patient - both mentally, physically and culturally - it destroyed his morale, shattered his faith and isolated him.

I have now put everything that medical science has taught me over the years to salvage this patient - to help him get back to his family. To help him have faith in what matters - right to health through scientific care. I hope I can hold on to him and he can hold on to his family.

**The retrived medications are sent for toxicology analysis and the powder and tablets are sent for detection of pig DNA content using genomic tools.**

As doctors, we must respect and embrace all genders, cultures, beliefs and faith. We treat people and not clients or customers. As doctors, please make sure that you rightfully and respectfully think and rationalize treatments for your patients. Homeopaths are not doctors. They are just a group of people with cult-behaviour, led astray and with core-beliefs that are anti-science and anti-public health.

Please know this too: Most modern medicine capsule formulations have gelatin which are of "cattle/bovine" origin. A quality and real medicine product will mention this on the label as "gelatin of animal origin" or "gelatin of plant/synthetioc origin." Ask your patients if they are non-meat eaters/vegetarians and prescribe medications that not only suit their disease, but also their culture/beliefs and faith.

I am not sure why Homeopathy still exist. It is quackery of the first degree. Where else would you see a "doctor" prescribing alcohol and pork as medicines for a Muslim patient? Depressing and pathetic. Shut down Homeopathy colleges and ban Homeopathy practice. We need doctors, not Homeopaths.

But these were tinctures with high concentrations of alcohol. Homeopaths in India have now understood that ultradiluted stuff is nothing and using mother compounds!
