Nigma Talib is no Enigma
« on: March 17, 2018, 04:24:15 PM »

Nigma Talib is a high profile Naturopathic 'Doctor' who uses the ND accreditation. She has a list of A list celebrity clients, practices in the UK and USA and at least two quack books on reversing aging. In addition Talib has a range of cosmetic products and a probiotic supplement.

The probiotic capsules retail at £47 for 30. Extraordinary and vague claims are made, "these will aid your gut and promote optimal living." I responded to her Facebook post by stating that no evidence exists to support claims that probiotic supplements have a positive impact on gut bacteria.

She refers to 'gluten face' to pitch her books. I have asked her if she can provide evidence from scientific or medical journals supporting the assertion that gluten has such an impact. I also asked if this is a medical diagnosis.

Talib's Serum No.1 is described as using 'light water technology' to deliver I gredients such as plant stem cells to promote young looking skin. Light water is presumably a reference to deuterium depleted water. There is no evidence that DEW has any benefits beyond a scant number of papers with small samples, mostly on plants and rats. There is no evidence that plant stem cell extracts have any noticable impact either.

Given her popularity with celebs, Talib is probably worth refuting and writing about. This is only a small sample of the quackery she has to offer, check out her healthydoc website. I'd be interested to see what others might have to say and would appreciate any advice.
