Expert Review of Clinical Immunology and Expert Review of Respiratory Medicine
accepted for coverage in MEDLINE®

Expert Reviews Ltd announced today that two of its journals, Expert Review of
Clinical Immunology
(ISSN 1744-666X) and Expert Review of Respiratory Medicine (ISSN 1747-6348), have
been selected for coverage in MEDLINE®. Maintained by the U.S. National Library
of Medicine®, MEDLINE® (Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System
Online) is a premier bibliographic database containing approximately 13 million
references to journal articles in life sciences.

Both Expert Review of Clinical Immunology and Expert Review of Respiratory Medicine
are published on a bimonthly basis in print and online formats on a rapid
publication basis, with articles subject to peer review by at least three
independent assessors. The journals have international expert authorship and offer
review articles, drug profiles, editorials, technology reports, interviews,
perspectives and a variety of added-value content.

Elisa Manzotti, Editorial Director of the Expert Review series commented, “We are
delighted that both Expert Review of Clinical Immunology and Expert Review of
Respiratory Medicine have been accepted for inclusion and it is now our intention to
work with the Editors of both journals to ensure that future issues keep pace with
the huge amount of research being generated.” She continued “We would like to thank
our Editorial Boards for their hard work, intellectual input and guidance in
targeting and evaluating topical, pioneering content to ensure inclusion of the
journal in MEDLINE®.”

Editor and past president of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology,
Michael S Blaiss, of Expert Review of Clinical Immunology from the University of
Tennessee Health Sciences Center commented, “It is exciting news that Expert Review
of Clinical Immunology has been accepted for indexing in PubMed. This will allow
authors to this journal to get the more vast readership and use of their articles
for reference by other authors throughout the world, which is so important in the
field of immunology research.”

Stephen T Holgate, Editor of Expert Review of Respiratory Medicine from the
University of Southampton also commented; “…that Expert Review of Respiratory
Medicine has been accepted for indexing on MEDLINE/PubMed is excellent news. It will
do much to increase the profile of lung disease worldwide and the important
contributions of clinicians and scientists to this field where there is a major
unmet clinical need.”

Both Stephen Holgate and Michael Blaiss are one of over 30 Editors that sit on the
Editorial boards of both titles – all of whom are key opinion leaders in their
field.

Manzotti further commented that, “…the Expert Reviews series has well and truly
established itself with a reputation for high-quality timely commentary and
analysis. I am absolutely delighted that this is continuously being recognized by
MEDLINE®, with 12 out of the 18 Expert Reviews titles now indexed. We welcome
the additional exposure that this will bring the journals making the Expert Reviews
series one of the most comprehensive review collections in modern medicine.

Also accepted for inclusion in MEDLINE® was Biomarkers in Medicine, part of the
biotechnology series published by Future Medicine Ltd, a sister imprint of Expert
Reviews, which also operates under the Future Science Group banner.

The National Library of Medicine MEDLINE® selection process is managed by an
advisory committee, the Literature Selection Technical Review Committee, composed of
authorities knowledgeable in the field of biomedicine, such as physicians,
researchers, educators, editors, health science librarians and historians, to review
and recommend the journal titles NLM should index. MEDLINE® is searchable for
free using PubMed at http://pubmed.gov.

Access to Expert Review of Clinical Immunology and Expert Review of Respiratory
Medicine is available via a free
30-day trial. To apply for your free trial please email info@expert-reviews.com

NOTES FOR EDITORS
ABOUT EXPERT REVIEW OF CLINICAL IMMUNOLOGY
The increasing prevalence of allergies and autoimmune diseases, along with a rise in
the incidence of infectious diseases such as HIV and pandemic influenza, means that
there is an urgent need for advances in basic immunology to be rapidly translated
into therapy. The hygiene hypothesis suggests that lifestyles in the developed world
could be to blame for rising allergy rates and today’s aging population and
associated immunosenescence pose challenges that will only grow greater with time.
Progress in our understanding of the immune system has been rapid in recent years
and advances in immunotherapeutics and stem cell therapy hold promise to help
regulate both appropriate and inappropriate immune responses.

Expert Review of Clinical Immunology (ISSN 1744-666X) provides expert analysis and
commentary regarding the performance of new therapeutic and diagnostic modalities in
clinical immunology. Members of the International Editorial Advisory Panel of Expert
Review of Clinical Immunology are the forefront of their area of expertise. This
panel works with our dedicated editorial team to identify the most important and
topical review themes and the corresponding expert(s) most appropriate to provide
commentary and analysis. All articles are subject to rigorous peer-review, and the
finished reviews provide an essential contribution to decision-making in clinical
immunology.
ABOUT EXPERT REVIEW OF RESPIRATORY MEDICINE
National surveys of research activity against disease burden show in most countries
lung disease is a long way short of other fields. Lung disease has always been a
less attractive discipline partly because of the very inaccessibility of the lung to
study and the low image it has as a coughing and sputum producing group of diseases.
The reasons for this maybe partly historical in that until 20 years ago most lung
research was physiological whereas what was needed is full embracement of the new
technology platforms of cell and molecular biology. We are still left with major
concerns over childhood lung infection, asthma, COPD, lung cancer and bronchiectasis
including CF. A more joined-up concerted effort is needed to re-launch lung research
as a top priority for patient benefit.
The challenge for clinicians, researchers and others involved in respiratory
medicine is to stay abreast of the latest developments in the field. Expert Review
of Respiratory Medicine (ISSN 1747-6348) provides an authoritative and focused
solution, delivering commentary and analysis for those involved in all areas of
pulmonary medicine.
