Im Gegensatz zu Twitter, wo alles von dem Soziopathen Jack Dorsey und seinen Kumpanen auf den firmeneigenen Servern gemacht wird, ist das Mastodon-Netzwerk dezentral. Ds heißt: Jeder kann die Mastodon-Software auf seinem eigenen Server installieren - und schon ist er dabei. ALS SERVER!

Die Macher von Mastodon haben eine Software. Darum geht es, um die Software. Wenn die auf einem Server installiert ist, wird das Instanz genannt, Dieser technische Ausdruck stammt aus der Informatik-Welt. Andere Begriffe wurden neu erfunden. Was völlig schwachsinnig ist. Warum wie in einem Adventure-Game neuen Zauber erfinden? Ist das ein Kindergarten?

Wenn ein Server 1 und ein Server 2 jeweils mit der Software installiert sind, können zwischen den beiden Servern Botschaften ausgetauscht werden. Das ist wie mit Email. Genau so wird es auch beschrieben.

Damit gibt es 2 Welten: einmal die kleine Welt auf Server 1 und die andere kleine Welt auf Server 2. Und es gibt die große Welt, die aus den Welten auf Server 1 und Server 2 und auf den anderen Servern existieren.

Wenn sich ein User registriert, dann tut er das auf einem der Server, und ist damit der Welt dieses Servers zugehörig. Das ist wie bei Email. Der Kontakt zu den anderen Servern kommt durch eine Brückenfunktion zustande. Man sieht als User die eigene Welt, und was dort vorgeht. Und man sieht über die Brückenfunktion, was auf allen anderen Servern vorgeht. Soweit ist das auch noch klar.

Toots oder auf deutsch "Tröts" ist das, was bei Twitter tweets genannt wird. Klasse, schon wieder ein Wort mehr aus der Kindersprache. Weniger wäre mehr gewesen. International hat sich vor Jahrzehnten der Begriff "Post" etabliert, damals im Usenet. Das ist dem heutigen "Social Media"-Unkraut immer noch haushoch überlegen.

Die Liste der "Blocked domains" ist eine Liste jeder Server, die die Mastodon-software installiert haben, zu denen aber die Brückenfunktion gesperrt wurde. Für die User dort kein Vergnügen. Deswegen wird in einem der Artikiel über Mastodon folgerichtig empfohlen. sich bei einem der großen Server zu registrieren. Dort ist das Risiko des Versagens des Servers geringer.

Daß ein Server versagt, ist sehr wahrscheinlich. Weniger weil er von den anderen über die "Blocked domains" ausgesperrt wird, sondern weil die Betreiber ihn einfach aufgegeben - weil sie keine Lust oder kein Geld mehr haben. Oder beides. Dann stehen die User im Regen. Die Daten sind nämlich weg...

Was wohl keiner so richtig überblickt: Das viele Geschwätz der Leute, das ständig in das Netz gepumpt wird, muß doch irgendwo gespeichert werden. Irgendwann sind bei einem Server die Webspaces und der Traffic erschöpft. Dann ist eine mehr der kleinen Welten am Ende. Rien ne va plus. Im ersten Beispiel ganz oben ist schon der Riegel vor: Man kann sich dort nicht mehr als User registrieren.

Das heißt: Es gibt eine (später) riesige Wolke von Servern. Mit einer riesigen Menge politischer und anderer Meinungen. Und dann herrscht Krieg. Im Usenet hat es das schon gegeben. Das Usenet ist eine Oligarchie der Serverbetreiber. Die denn auch mal beschließen, diesen oder jenen auszuschließen. Das gesamte Usenet ist eine sehr, sehr labile Sache. Das gleiche ist bei Mastodon der Fall. Alles ist sehr labil. Und der einzelne User ist auf Gedeih und Verderb den Admins des Servers ausgeliefert, wo er registriert ist. Rechte hat er keine.

Da ist die Frage: WOZU DAS ALLES ÜBERHAUPT!? Muß man als einzelner Mensch im Internet sich das alles antun? Muß man das blöde Geschwätz der Hunderttausende ertragen, das die rund um die Uhr vor sich hinbrabbeln wie Logorrhoiker?

Aber das ist noch lange nicht alles. Da fängt die Sache nämlich erst an! Wenn es um Politik geht, was wird da sein? Genau wie es Parteien gibt, rechte und linke, wird es rechte und linke Server geben. Wie gehen die miteinander um?

Wir erleben eine Zeit akuten geistigen Verfalls. Der Genderismus ist eines der Symptome. Wie wird sich das auf die Server auswirken?

Kleinstaaterei, Hexenküche, Hexenjagden, kompletter Wahnsinn. Welche Server werden das überleben?

Ich habe da ganz ernste Zweifel. Mir ist ein seriöses Forum lieber. Kein Geschwätz. Viele neue Fakten. Und alles Alte ist ein Archiv. So muß es sein. Geschwätz ist nur etwas für Blöde.

Die Mastodon-Macher und ihr Umfeld nennen ihr Konglomerat "Fediverse", zusammengesetzt aus "federal" und "universe". Auf deutsch: föderales Universum. Warum sagen die nicht gleich, was sie meinen? Einen Zusammenschluß. Mehr ist das doch nicht. Es ist nichts als ein Zusammenschluß von Serverbetreibern, deren Server über ein bestimmtes Protokolle Meldungen an die anderen weitergeben. Daß es um ein Protokoll geht, ist bei denen auch irgendwo beschrieben. Aber alles ist konfus.

Die neu erfundenen und völlig sinnlosen Kindersrprachewörter verschlimmern das erheblich. Ein "Journalist" meint, Mastodon sei kompliziert. Naja, für ihn vielleicht... ;D

Mastodon ist nicht kompliziert, sondern dusselig. Die haben zum Beispiel eine Trennung in "Tröts" (für so blödes Zeug paßt wirklich nur dieser Begriff) für Alle, und in solche für "Freunde". Warum keine ganz direkten? Bei Twitter muß man erstens dem Laden beitreten, um überhaupt tweeten zu können und zweitens muß man demjenigen folgen, dem man einen direkte persönliche Miteilung schicken will. Das geht allerdings auch erst dann, wenn derjenige Einem folgt. Wenn er das nicht tut: Pech gehabt.

Natürlich kann man den Leuten sagen "Bitte folge mir" und das mehr oder weniger breit auswalzen, wieso und warum. Das setzt aber voraus, daß der Angesprochene einen IQ oberhalb der Zimmertemperatur hat. Und/oder daß er kein arroganter Ärmel ist. (Härtere Wörter erspare ich mir hier erst mal.) So einer rümpft doch bloß die Nase ob der Zumutung, mit Jemandem reden zu müssen.

Besonders übel bei Twitter sind die Schikanen durch Twitter selbst. Ein User kann seinen eigenen Account so schalten, daß Andere ihm direkte persönliche Miteilungen schicken können, auch wenn er denen nicht folgt. Das funktioniert aber nur, wenn Twitter diesen Anderen das auch erlaubt! Teil der Schikanen bei Twitter ist nämllich, diese Funktion zu sperren um von den Betreffenden die Handynummer zu erpressen.

Da haben wir dann Jemanden, nennen wir ihn User99, der mit User ABCdingsda Kontakt aufnehmen will und dem eine persönliche direkte Mitteilung schicken will. Er folgt dem User ABCdingsda. User ABCdingsda hat seinen Account sogar so geschaltet, daß man  User ABCdingsda direkte Miteilungen schicken kann. Aber es geht nicht, weil Twitter den User99 zwingen will, die Handynummer herauszurücken. Dann kann User99 KEINE direkten Mitteilungen schicken, obwohl User ABCdingsda das ausdrücklich so eingestellt hat, daß es geht.

Was jetzt? Wenn User99 dem User ABCdingsda tweetet, daß es nicht funktioniert, und der User ABCdingsda intellektuell ein Kohlkopf ist, wird er sagen, daß User99 spinnt und wird den möglicherweise sogar blockieren. Das ist alles schon vorgekommen.

Wegen der Schikane von Twitter gegen User99 wird User ABCdingsda gezwungen, dem User99 zu folgen, so daß die beiden sich ENDLICH doch direkte Mitteilungen schicken können. Das ist doch krank!

Überrhaupt, diese ganze Sache mit Blockieren und so weiter ist bei Twitter völlig pervers. Das wirkt ja auch rückwirkend, womit rückwirkend alle Tweets, die bisher in einem Kontext standen, diesen plötzlich verlieren. Niemand kann jetzt noch geistig folgen, was da für eine Diskussion abgelaufen ist. Twitter ist extremer Schund.

Wo Twitter so ein Schund ist, könnten die Konkurrenten doch versuchen es besser zu machen. Tun sie aber nicht.

Das Usenet ist in vielem besser. Der Haken ist bloß die riesige Datenmenge. Die Server müssen jeden Tag Gigabytes senden und empfangen, und die empfangenen Gigabytes zwischenlagern. Manche tun das sogar mehrere Jahre. Dafür braucht man großer Serveranlagen, und dafür eine Menge Geld. Aber dafür sind die Posts auch lesbar und der Zusammenhang auch über zig Antworten ist absolut eindeutig.

Im Usenet gibt es sind nicht bloß 140 oder 280 oder 500 Zeichen, sondern auch wirklich lange Texte. Sogar ganze Bücher und Dokumente werden im Usenet gepostet. Das kann keiner der "Streaming"-Dienste. Ob das Geschwätz der User mit Reklame "gewürzt" wird, spielt keine Rolle. Streaming ist Geschwätz, das auf Einen herunterprasselt als ob man auf der städtischen Müllhalde hinter einem Müllwagen steht und der seinen Inhalt auf Einen draufschüttet.

Irgendwie muß die Bevölkerung ja für Mario Barth und Angela Merkel konditioniert werden...
