La Justicia argentina abrió una investigación penal contra Andreas Ludwig Kalcker, un presunto médico alemán que se presenta como el descubridor de la solución milagrosa para el coronavirus y promociona el consumo del dióxido de cloro. También fueron denunciadas un grupo de personas que vendían y distribuían ese producto en el país, a través de publicaciones en redes sociales, revelaron a Infobae fuentes judiciales. Kalcker organizó conferencias en la Argentina difundiendo el consumo de estas sustancias que el ANMAT considera peligrosas para la salud.

Se trata de una investigación que, luego de una denuncia, abrió el fiscal federal Ramiro González, a cargo de la Unidad Fiscal de Investigaciones en Materia Ambiental (UFIMA), creada mediante resolución de la Procuración General de la Nación. Ahora, tres varios de meses de análisis y recolección de pruebas, González formalizó una denuncia penal contra Kalcker y otro grupo de personas que quedó radicada en el juzgado de Ariel Lijo por una serie de delitos contra la salud pública.

El fiscal los denunció por delitos que tienen penas de hasta 10 años de cárcel para el “envenenare, adulterare o falsificare de un modo peligroso para la salud” sustancias alimenticias o medicinales destinadas al uso público. Pero si se comprobara que esa sustancia provocó la muerte de una persona, la pena podría alcanzar a los 25 años de prisión.

En la denuncia a la que accedió Infobae, el foco está puesto en Andreas Ludwig Kalcker, nacido el 16 de marzo de 1961 en Alemania, y residiría en Suiza. Kalcker se presenta como investigador en “biofísica” –terapias alternativas- y promueve el “dióxido de cloro” como una sustancia que consumida en pequeñas dosis sería beneficiosa para la salud. A él se le adjudica ser el “descubridor del ‘MMS’, siglas que en inglés significa ‘Miracle Mineral Solution’, que se comercializan por distintas redes sociales y por internet en el país.

No es la primera vez que Al Kalcker es centro de las polémicas. En 2012 fue detenido en España por la Guardia Civil por un supuesto delito contra la salud pública. Daba charlas bajo el título “Un mundo sin cáncer. Lo que tu médico no te está contando”. Recientemente, Youtube retiró de su plataforma un video del supuesto investigador Andreas Kalcker, quien propugna el dióxido de cloro como cura del SARS-COV-2 por infringir las políticas de la comunidad.

Pero la investigación de Comodoro Py también apunta a los argentinos Daniel Leonardo Binello, Daniel Bagalá, Xiomana Tatiana Solnik, Aureliana Manuela Duarte, junto al responsable de un perfil de Facebook que se llama “Semillas Orgánicas”. Todos ellos, dice el fiscal González, “habrían puesto a la venta y/o distribuido y almacenado, con fines de comercialización el compuesto denominado “clorito de sodio”, “Cloruro de sodio” -“CDS”-, y/o “MMS” o “suplemento mineral milagroso”, sustancias que, tal como lo señaló la Administración Nacional de Medicamento, Alimento y Tecnología –ANMAT- resultan prohibidas para la ingesta humana por resultar peligrosa para la salud, disimulando los aquí denunciados su carácter nocivo”.

A criterio del fiscal González, el “relato” de los beneficios de dióxido de cloro “excedió los límites, en el corriente año, cuando una vez declarada la ‘Pandemia Mundial por COVID 19’ por la Organización Mundial de la Salud, el referido Kalcker como algunos de sus seguidores y personas aquí denunciadas, aprovechando el miedo y ansiedad de las personas, comenzaron a publicitar tal sustancia como un remedio para la cura de la enfermedad ocasionada por el virus de Sars CoV-2 (COVID 19)”.

“Los medicamentos o productos que ofrezcan curas a enfermedades, que no se encuentren autorizados o avalados por la autoridad sanitaria, como aquellos que contienen ‘dióxido de cloro’, ‘clorito de sodio’ o sustancias relacionadas revisten riesgos para la salud de los pacientes, en atención a que se desconoce en qué condiciones fueron elaborados, si contienen realmente las sustancias que declaran o contienen sustancias distintas, dañinas o prohibidas si se encuentran bajo supervisión de un profesional de la salud, entre otras cuestiones”, sostuvo.

El 21 de agosto de 2020, un abogado, Víctor Atila Castillejo Arias, se presentó a denunciar a Kalcker y a Binello por la difusión del dióxido de cloro como una sustancia milagrosa para el coronavirus. En la denuncia a la que accedió Infobae, el abogado remarcó que en el país se había registrado la muerte de un hombre de 50 años en Jujuy y la de un niño de 5 años en Neuquén, a quien “sus padres, seguramente engañados” por los anuncios milagrosos de esa sustancia le habrían dado dióxido de cloro. (En rigor, se sabría después, el niño había fallecido por una falla multiorgánicana).

Hace apenas diez días, un juez dispuso, por pedido de su familia, que al paciente Oscar García Rúa, de 92 años, se le aplicara de manera “urgente” nebulizaciones de ibuprofeno de sodio y de dióxido de cloro intravenoso, lo cual desató un escándalo en la comunidad médica que terminó denunciando al magistrado que habilitó esa práctica. El paciente murió a las pocas horas. Y ahora hay una serie de causas penales abiertas, entre ellas al médico -Daniel Converti- que dispuso y realizó esa práctica.

Lo cierto es que ya en agosto el abogado Castillejo Arias reclamó investigar a Kalcker y sus seguidores. Afirmó que se puede ver cómo el presunto profesional “utiliza ejemplos de supuestos terceros que se habrían recuperado de una enfermedad como manera de ocultar la nocividad del complejo”. Resaltó así que “casi todas las agencias de salud del mundo se han manifestado en forma similar a la República Argentina: es decir advirtiéndole a los ciudadanos que no consuman este producto pero Kalcker sigue insistiendo con el uso medicinal de esta lejía teniendo esto consecuencia realmente impredecibles”.

Fue así que se abrió una investigación preliminar que lo primero que hizo fue establecer dentro del expediente la posición de la Administración Nacional de Medicamentos, Alimento y Tecnología –ANMAT- dependiente del Ministerio de Salud de la Nación sobre estos productos: el “dióxido de cloro” es un gas que se utiliza comúnmente como blanqueador en el proceso de fabricación del papel en plantas públicas de tratamiento de agua y en el proceso de descontaminación de construcciones. Publicaciones no oficializadas le atribuyen “propiedades antimicrobianas, antivirales y un inminente fortalecimiento del sistema inmunológico”, y hasta preventivas del COVID. Pero su consumo, no autorizado, puede provocar graves daños e incluso generar complicaciones respiratorias que deriven en la muerte. Y se añadió que el ANMAT “prohíbe el uso, comercialización y distribución en todo el territorio nacional del producto rotulado como “MMS Milagroso Suplemento Mineral por 100 cc.”.

De acuerdo a los datos iniciales de la investigación, Kalcker habría anunciado los supuestos beneficios de la ingesta de la referida sustancia nociva –CDS o MMS-, por distintos medios, “casi todos habrían sido publicados en el exterior pero difundidos en el país, como ser reportajes por medios de comunicación y “Youtube”, publicaciones, libros, y exposiciones. Incluso, dio una conferencia el 13 de diciembre de 2019, en el “Hotel Bauen” ubicado en la avenida Callao 360 de esta ciudad de Buenos Aires, y al dia siguiente otra en el “Cyan Hotel de las Américas”, salón Libertad, sito en la calle Libertad 1020, también de esta ciudad.

La denuncia del fiscal González señala además que “la difusión habría provocado que comenzaran a circular con mayor énfasis los supuestos ‘beneficios’ de la ingesta humana de la sustancia tóxica de mención con serias consecuencias para la salud, pudiendo incluso provocar la muerte”.

En el marco de la pandemia, dice el fiscal, “tanto Kalcker como algunos de sus seguidores y los nombrados precedentemente, entre otros, comenzaron a hacer circular que el ‘CDS’ o ‘MMS’ como se suele llamar, lograba la cura de la enfermedad producida por el virus de “Sars CoV-2” (COVID 19)”.

Fue así que entre los denunciados aparece Binello, quien sería el titular de una pagina en donde se ofrece a la venta el “clorito de sodio”. La página, dice el fiscal González, afirma que el producto no sería un medicamento, resalta al publicar para la venta el kit “CDS”, pero remarca “Pack Sanitizante, biocida, Andreas Kalcker”. Y por ello se analiza si, disimulando su carácter nocivo, se puso en venta vía online el producto al menos desde agosto pasado.

Bagala, en tanto, es un usuario de Facebook, que -desde su perfil- publicitó el producto –clorito de sodio- como “Purificador Bactericida”, a través de la marca “CDS DIOXIL”. Fue publicado en la sección “Marketplace” de esa red social. Lo mismo se detectó sobre Xiomana Tatiana Solnik, que también ofrecía el producto para la venta, ya fueron localizados. Otras ofertas se promocionaron desde usuario de perfil de Facebook “Semillas orgánicas”.

En tanto, Aurelia Manuela Duarte, a través de su usuario de perfil de Facebook “Patria Pueblo Lucha”, también promocionó la venta de “Andreas Kalcker”, con mensajes que decían: “Fernández deja de meternos presos y corta con lo de la pandemia se cura con el dióxido de cloro no mientras más yo creía en vos”

Frente a estas constancias, todos fueron denunciados por el fiscal de la UFIMA en los tribunales de Comodoro Py. La denuncia solicita además al juez Lijo una serie de diligencias.

A group of people who sold and distributed this product in the country through publications in social networks were also denounced, judicial sources revealed to Infobae. This is an investigation that, following a complaint, was opened by federal prosecutor Ramiro González, in charge of the Prosecutorial Unit for Investigations in Environmental Matters (UFIMA), created by resolution of the Attorney General's Office. Now, after several months of analysis and evidence collection, Gonzalez formalized a criminal complaint against Kalcker and another group of people that was filed in Ariel Lijo's court for a series of crimes against public health.

The prosecutor denounced them for crimes punishable by up to 10 years in prison for "poisoning, adulterating or falsifying in a way dangerous to health" food or medicinal substances intended for public use. But if it is proven that the substance caused the death of a person, the penalty could reach 25 years of imprisonment.

In the complaint accessed by Infobae, the focus is on Andreas Ludwig Kalcker, born on March 16, 1961 in Germany, and reportedly residing in Switzerland. Kalcker presents himself as a researcher in "biophysics" -alternative therapies- and promotes "chlorine dioxide" as a substance that consumed in small doses would be beneficial for health. He is said to be the "discoverer of 'MMS', which stands for 'Miracle Mineral Solution', marketed through different social networks and the Internet in the country.

It is not the first time that Al Kalcker is at the center of controversy. In 2012 he was arrested in Spain by the Guardia Civil for an alleged crime against public health. He was giving talks under the title "A world without cancer. What your doctor is not telling you". Recently, Youtube removed from its platform a video of the alleged researcher Andreas Kalcker, who advocates chlorine dioxide as a cure for SARS-COV-2 for violating community policies.

But the Comodoro Py investigation also targets Argentines Daniel Leonardo Binello, Daniel Bagalá, Xiomana Tatiana Solnik, Aureliana Manuela Duarte, along with the head of a Facebook profile called "Semillas Orgánicas". "Medicines or products offering cures to diseases, which are not authorized or endorsed by the health authority, such as those containing 'chlorine dioxide', 'sodium chlorite' or related substances pose risks to the health of patients, in attention to the fact that it is unknown under what conditions they were elaborated, if they really contain the substances they declare or contain different, harmful or prohibited substances if they are under supervision of a health professional, among other issues", he held.

On August 21, 2020, a lawyer, Víctor Atila Castillejo Arias, filed a complaint against Kalcker and Binello for the dissemination of chlorine dioxide as a miracle substance for the coronavirus. In the complaint, to which Infobae had access, the lawyer remarked that the death of a 50 year-old man in Jujuy and that of a 5 year-old boy in Neuquén, to whom "his parents, surely deceived" by the miraculous advertisements of that substance, had given him chlorine dioxide, had been registered. (In fact, it was later revealed that the boy had died from a multi-organ failure).

Just ten days ago, a judge ordered, at the request of his family, that the patient Oscar García Rúa, 92 years old, be given "urgent" nebulizations of sodium ibuprofen and intravenous chlorine dioxide, which unleashed a scandal in the medical community that ended up denouncing the magistrate who authorized this practice. Thus, a preliminary investigation was opened and the first thing it did was to establish within the file the position of the National Administration of Medicines, Food and Technology -ANMAT- dependent on the National Ministry of Health on these products: "chlorine dioxide" is a gas commonly used as a bleach in the paper manufacturing process in public water treatment plants and in the process of decontamination of buildings. Unofficial publications attribute to it "antimicrobial, antiviral and an imminent strengthening of the immune system" and even preventive properties of COVID. But its unauthorized consumption can cause serious damage and even generate respiratory complications leading to death. And it was added that ANMAT "prohibits the use, marketing and distribution throughout the national territory of the product labeled as "MMS Milagroso Suplemento Mineral por 100 cc".

According to the initial data of the investigation, Kalcker would have announced the alleged benefits of the intake of the referred harmful substance -CDS or MMS-, by different means, "almost all of them would have been published abroad but disseminated in the country, such as media reports and "Youtube", publications, books, and exhibitions. He even gave a lecture on December 13, 2019, at the "Hotel Bauen" located at 360 Callao Avenue in this city of Buenos Aires, and the next day another one at the "Cyan Hotel de las Américas", Salón Libertad, located at 1020 Libertad Street, also in this city.

The denunciation of the prosecutor Gonzalez also points out that "the diffusion would have caused that the supposed 'benefits' of the human ingestion of the mentioned toxic substance with serious consequences for health, even causing death, began to circulate with greater emphasis".

In the context of the pandemic, says the prosecutor, "both Kalcker and some of his followers and those mentioned above, among others, began to circulate that the 'CDS' or 'MMS' as it is usually called, achieved the cure of the disease produced by the "Sars CoV-2" virus (COVID 19)".

Thus, Binello appears among those denounced, who would be the owner of a page where the "sodium chlorite" is offered for sale. The page, says the prosecutor Gonzalez, states that the product would not be a drug, highlights when publishing for sale the kit "CDS", but remarks "Pack Sanitizer, biocide, Andreas Kalcker". Therefore, it is being analyzed whether, disguising its harmful nature, the product was put on sale online at least since last August.

Bagala, meanwhile, is a Facebook user, who - from his profile - advertised the product - sodium chlorite - as "Bactericidal Purifier", through the brand "CDS DIOXIL". It was published in the "Marketplace" section of that social network. The same was detected about Xiomana Tatiana Solnik, who also offered the product for sale, they were already located. Other offers were promoted from Facebook profile user "Organic Seeds".

Meanwhile, Aurelia Manuela Duarte, through her Facebook profile user "Patria Pueblo Lucha", also promoted the sale of "Andreas Kalcker", with messages that read: "Fernandez stop putting us in prison and cut with the pandemic is cured with chlorine dioxide no longer while I believed in you".

In the face of these records, all of them were denounced by the UFIMA prosecutor in the Comodoro Py courts. The complaint also requests Judge Lijo a series of proceedings.

En el mes de junio del 2021 se procesó a una persona por la venta ilegal de “dióxido de cloro” o “clorito de sodio”. Dicho procesamiento fue apelado por la defensa y el 26 de agosto del 2021 la resolución fue confirmada por Cámara Criminal y Correcional Federal de la Sala 2.

Esto quita cualquier tipo de duda en cuanto a la ilegalidad de la venta de esta sustancia denominada Dióxido de Cloro o Clorito de Sodio. En otras palabras, quien venda este producto en algún lugar del territorio de la República Argentina tiene que tener en cuenta que tarde o temprano podrá ser penalmente perseguido.

En una sucesión de operativos realizados este jueves, la Policía Federal encontró dióxido de cloro en 13 domicilios.
Los allanamientos, que son parte de una investigación penal ya existente que apunta contra el pseudocientífico alemán Andreas Ludwig Kalcker, surgieron a partir de una investigación de Chequeado de la serie “Los desinformantes”.
El dióxido de cloro es una sustancia que no está autorizada como medicamento en la Argentina ni por ninguna agencia reguladora de medicamentos en el mundo y, sin embargo, es promovida como “solución milagrosa” por diversos actores para tratar diversas enfermedades, entre ellas, el coronavirus.
En una sucesión de allanamientos realizados este jueves 2 de septiembre, la Policía Federal encontró dióxido de cloro (CDS) en 13 domicilios. Los operativos, que son parte de una investigación penal ya existente que apunta contra Andreas Ludwig Kalcker (un pseudocientífico alemán que se autodefine como creador del CDS), surgieron a partir de una investigación de Chequeado de la serie “Los desinformantes”, en donde se identificaron decenas de publicaciones que decían vender dióxido de cloro por WhatsApp y redes sociales.

Esta investigación fue publicada el 26 de abril último. Luego de ello, el Juzgado Nacional en lo Criminal y Correccional Federal Nº 4, a cargo del juez federal Ariel Lijo, citó a declarar a la directora de Chequeado, Laura Zommer, que ratificó el contenido publicado.

El dióxido de cloro es una sustancia que no está autorizada como medicamento en la Argentina ni por ninguna agencia reguladora de medicamentos en el mundo y, sin embargo, es promovida como “solución milagrosa” por diversos actores para tratar distintas enfermedades, entre ellas, el coronavirus.

Desde el Juzgado Federal Nº 4, a cargo del juez federal Ariel Lijo, informaron a este medio que se allanaron domicilios en Martínez, San Fernando, Boulogne y Mar del Plata, en la Provincia de Buenos Aires; y en otras 7 provincias: Santa Fe, Entre Ríos, Mendoza, Salta, Jujuy, Córdoba y San Luis.

La investigación apunta contra 19 imputados, entre los que se encuentran Kalcker y Luis Enrique García, un “obispo” que promocionaba dióxido de cloro en nombre de la “Iglesia Génesis II de la Salud y la Sanación”, una iglesia que tiene representación en otros países de América Latina y que fue fundada por Jim Humble junto a Mark Grenon, actual líder imputado por la Justicia estadounidense, acusado de fabricar y vender decenas de miles de botellas de la llamada “Solución Mineral Milagrosa” o MMS.

En el allanamiento a García se secuestró dióxido de cloro con fines de comercialización y una colección completa de simbología nazi, informaron desde el tribunal. En la investigación periodística que realizó Chequeado, el “obispo” ofreció su “sacramento” por mail.

Además, en la causa se encuentran imputadas 17 personas más: Daniel Leonardo Binello, Daniel Bagala, Xilomara Solnik, Aurelia Manuela Duarte, Cristian Braian Herrera, Gustavo López Goyeneche, Gabriel Abel, Vanesa Cinthia Carles, Analía Mariel Lemme, Luciana Vázquez, Stella Maris Vallejos, María del Valle Constantini, Gonzalo Adrián Flores, Julia Liliana Flores, María Imelda Oliva, Gabriel Esteban Escalada y Olga Esperanza Lamoratta.

No existe un perfil homogéneo de los proveedores de dióxido de cloro y, al no estar avalado ni regulado por autoridades sanitarias, tampoco hay una homogeneización en relación a cómo ni cuánto se toma. Uno de los allanamientos de la causa fue realizado en una dietética en el norte de la Provincia de Buenos Aires, y otro de los imputados trabaja en contacto con proveedores de Colombia, según pudo constatar Chequeado.

Los imputados están acusados de la “venta y/o distribución y almacenamiento, con fines de comercialización del compuesto denominado ‘clorito de sodio’, ‘CDS’, y/o ‘MMS’ o ‘suplemento mineral milagroso’, sustancias que según la Administración Nacional de Medicamento, Alimento y Tecnología (ANMAT) resultan prohibidas para la ingesta humana por resultar peligrosa para la salud”, según informaron desde el Juzgado.

En el resto de los allanamientos también se secuestró MMS, clorito de sodio, ácido cítrico, “DMSO” (dimetilsulfóxido), balanzas de precisión, planchuelas de etiquetas de los productos, monedas de oro y grandes sumas de dinero.

El dióxido de cloro es un derivado del clorito de sodio, una sustancia química que se utiliza como blanqueador en la industria papelera y textil, en la potabilización del agua y como desinfectante en superficies inertes. La sustancia se promociona desde hace años como una supuesta “cura” para diversas enfermedades, como el cáncer, la malaria y la Esclerósis Lateral Amiotrófica (ELA), entre otras. Con el auge de la COVID-19 y la incertidumbre de la pandemia, el dióxido de cloro se popularizó aún más como un tratamiento para la enfermedad.

El dióxido de cloro no está autorizado por la ANMAT ni por ninguna agencia reguladora de medicamentos en el mundo como un tratamiento médico porque no hay evidencia sobre su eficacia. Según enfatizan diversos entes regulatorios y organismos científicos, tanto a nivel nacional como internacional, su ingesta puede causar irritación en el esófago y estómago, dolor abdominal, náuseas, vómitos, diarrea e intoxicaciones severas, que pueden incluir graves trastornos hematológicos, cardiovasculares y renales, así como complicaciones respiratorias, como bronquitis crónica y erosiones dentales. En el país, al menos 3 personas murieron luego de ingerir dióxido de cloro.

En el mes de junio del 2021 se procesó a una persona por la venta ilegal de “dióxido de cloro” o “clorito de sodio”. Dicho procesamiento fue apelado por la defensa y el 26 de agosto del 2021 la resolución fue confirmada por Cámara Criminal y Correcional Federal de la Sala 2.

Esto quita cualquier tipo de duda en cuanto a la ilegalidad de la venta de esta sustancia denominada Dióxido de Cloro o Clorito de Sodio. En otras palabras, quien venda este producto en algún lugar del territorio de la República Argentina tiene que tener en cuenta que tarde o temprano podrá ser penalmente perseguido.

Bei der Razzia bei Garcia wurden Chlordioxid für kommerzielle Zwecke und eine komplette Sammlung von Nazi-Symbolen beschlagnahmt, wie das Gericht erfuhr. In der von Chequeado durchgeführten journalistischen Untersuchung bot der "Bischof" sein "Sakrament" per E-Mail an.

Den Angeklagten wird vorgeworfen, "die Verbindung 'Natriumchlorit', 'CDS' und/oder 'MMS' oder 'Miracle Mineral Supplement' zu verkaufen und/oder zu vertreiben und zu lagern, um sie zu vermarkten, Substanzen, die laut der Nationalen Behörde für Arzneimittel, Lebensmittel und Technologie (ANMAT) für den menschlichen Verzehr verboten sind, weil sie gesundheitsgefährdend sind", so das Gericht.

Bei den übrigen Razzien wurden außerdem MMS, Natriumchlorit, Zitronensäure, "DMSO" (Dimethylsulfoxid), Präzisionswaagen, Produktetiketten, Goldmünzen und große Geldbeträge beschlagnahmt.

Chlordioxid ist ein Derivat von Natriumchlorit, einer Chemikalie, die als Bleichmittel in der Papier- und Textilindustrie, bei der Wasseraufbereitung und als Desinfektionsmittel für inerte Oberflächen verwendet wird. Die Substanz wird seit Jahren als angebliches "Heilmittel" für verschiedene Krankheiten wie Krebs, Malaria und Amyotrophe Lateralsklerose (ALS) beworben. Mit dem Auftreten von COVID-19 und der Ungewissheit der Pandemie wurde Chlordioxid als Mittel zur Behandlung der Krankheit immer beliebter.

Chlordioxid ist weder von der ANMAT noch von einer anderen Arzneimittelbehörde in der Welt als medizinische Behandlung zugelassen, da es keine Beweise für seine Wirksamkeit gibt. Nach Angaben verschiedener nationaler und internationaler Aufsichtsbehörden und wissenschaftlicher Gremien kann die Einnahme zu Reizungen der Speiseröhre und des Magens, Bauchschmerzen, Übelkeit, Erbrechen, Durchfall und schweren Vergiftungen führen, die schwere hämatologische, kardiovaskuläre und renale Störungen sowie Komplikationen der Atemwege wie chronische Bronchitis und Zahnerosionen verursachen können. Mindestens 3 Menschen sind in dem Land nach der Einnahme von Chlordioxid gestorben.

A pesar de que el dióxido de cloro no está autorizado como medicamento en la Argentina ni por ninguna agencia reguladora de medicamentos en el mundo, esta sustancia es promovida como “solución milagrosa” para tratar diversas enfermedades, entre ellas, el coronavirus. La promueven personas que se presentan como referentes de una iglesia que tienen causas judiciales abiertas, políticos, influencers, fans de Andreas Kalcker y hasta dietéticas. Si bien algunas plataformas tienen políticas fijadas para remover contenidos que pueden dañar la salud, Chequeado identificó decenas de publicaciones que recomiendan esta sustancia y la vende por WhatsApp.
Su hermano lo bebió por miedo y desesperación. Es lo que repitió una y otra vez frente a las decenas de periodistas que la entrevistaron. Gloria Ríos perdió a su hermano, Juan Andrés Ríos (51 años), el 11 de agosto de 2020 luego de que él ingiriera dióxido de cloro, en la localidad de San Pedro, provincia de Jujuy. Según contó Gloria, su hermano adquirió la sustancia de una persona del pueblo que la promocionaba en redes sociales como una cura milagrosa para diversas enfermedades.

El dióxido de cloro no está autorizado como medicamento en nuestro país por la Administración Nacional de Medicamentos, Alimentos y Tecnología Médica (ANMAT) ni por ninguna agencia reguladora de medicamentos en el mundo. Ni para tratar el coronavirus, ni ninguna otra enfermedad, aunque es promovido en la Argentina por periodistas y famosos (ver recuadro), o incluso por diputados del Congreso de la Nación.

La sustancia no está autorizada pero se vende igual. La promueven personas que se presentan como supuestos obispos y supuestos líderes de una iglesia, que tienen causas judiciales abiertas, y hasta políticos e influencers promueven algo que puede llevar a la muerte.



Se trata de un derivado del clorito de sodio, una sustancia química que se utiliza como blanqueador en la industria papelera y textil, en la potabilización de agua y como desinfectante en superficies inertes. Sin embargo, la sustancia se promociona desde hace años como una supuesta “cura” para diversas enfermedades: cáncer, malaria y ELA, entre otras, y se comercializa de forma ilegal en el país y en el mundo. Con el auge de la COVID-19 y la incertidumbre de la pandemia, todos los días el dióxido de cloro llega a cientos de personas como el hermano de Gloria que, ante la angustia, caen en la estafa.

Según contó su familia, Juan Andrés Ríos desarrolló un cuadro alérgico por la ingesta del dióxido de cloro. Se le cerró la glotis y se ahogó broncoaspirado, le explicaron los médicos a la familia. No se hizo ninguna prueba PCR, y nunca tuvo la confirmación oficial de que tuvo coronavirus. De hecho, luego de la muerte, todos sus convivientes fueron hisopados y dieron negativo. Sin embargo, ante el miedo y la desesperación en medio de la pandemia, Ríos decidió comprarlo y tomarlo.

“Sabemos que las personas que venden estas sustancias que prometen la cura o la salvación milagrosa, como casi todos estos mitos conspiracionistas, parten de un hecho cierto; pero que de ahí derivan en situaciones totalmente irreales. Lo cierto es que el dióxido de cloro es una sustancia desinfectante por su fuerte poder oxidante”, explicó a Chequeado Aldo Saracco, médico toxicólogo, miembro del Comité Científico de la Asociación Toxicológica Argentina (ATA) y miembro de la Sociedad Iberoamericana de Salud Ambiental.

“Si yo lo aplico in vitro, es decir, en una experiencia de laboratorio, destruye toda sustancia orgánica al dañar su cobertura proteica, es así que destruye bacterias y virus, así como a cualquier célula, sana o enferma, de manera general e inespecífica. Cuando esto lo aplicamos in vivo, es decir, sobre una persona, esta acción la hace exactamente igual, desnaturaliza a virus y bacterias, al igual que a las células sobre las que toma contacto; es así que daña las estructuras proteicas normales presentes en el tracto digestivo o a nivel sanguíneo y resto del cuerpo”, remarcó Saracco. Es decir, destruye al virus al mismo tiempo que al organismo, sin diferenciar.

Quiénes están detrás de la venta de la sustancia en la Argentina
La versatilidad de ofertas y precios de esta sustancia en el país llama la atención. Se ofrece en diversos formatos: en botella de 250 ml y “packs” por 5 litros, en valores que van desde $ 700 hasta $ 7000. Si se opta por preparar en casa la sustancia, los “kits” -es decir, el clorito de sodio más el activador (ácido clorhídrico o cítrico)- se ofertan desde $ 600 a $ 3500. Los precios aumentan si se ofrece la pipeta para la preparación, las tiras reactivas y difiere según el material del envase (plástico o vidrio PET).

Como en México y en Colombia, en la Argentina no hay un perfil homogéneo de los proveedores de dióxido de cloro y, al no estar avalado ni regulado por autoridades sanitarias, tampoco hay una homogeneización en relación a cómo ni cuánto se toma.

En muchos casos, los comerciantes se jactan de que siguen las fórmulas e indicaciones de la página oficial de Andreas Kalcker, un pseudocientífico alemán que se autodefine como creador del CDS (solución de dióxido de cloro, en inglés), una sustancia que surge en base al MMS (solución mineral milagrosa, en inglés). Ese es el caso de Máximo, quien desde Mendoza envía una copia por e-mail del libro “Salud Prohibida” de Kalcker a quienes le compren alguno de sus productos. Una suerte de “instructivo” para preparar el producto. Otros vendedores, en cambio, llegan a adjuntar videos explicativos.

Muchos vendedores, sin embargo, saben que lidian con una sustancia controversial. Como una dietética en Córdoba, que no lo publicita en sus redes sociales, pero por WhatsApp admiten que lo venden. Y en Martínez, Provincia de Buenos Aires, otra dietética es prudente y pregunta cómo se obtuvo su contacto antes de brindar información. Dicen comercializar “productos naturales” en Facebook, pero una vez pasada la barrera de confianza, por WhatsApp admiten que ofrecen CDS aunque aclaran, por el momento, no tienen disponibilidad.

Chequeado no menciona los nombres de estos locales ni de otros proveedores de dióxido de cloro en esta nota para evitar la difusión de sustancias no autorizadas por la ANMAT porque se los contactó como potenciales compradores, para probar cuán fácil es conseguir hoy esta sustancia tóxica, sin identificarse como periodista.

Los perfiles de los comerciantes varían. Stella, en Mar del Plata, quien tiene una foto de perfil de los astros, prepara con sus propias manos el dióxido de cloro, pero es muy cauta con la información que difunde: en su caso asesora por ese canal, pero no envía protocolos ni tampoco entrega sus productos con etiqueta. “Estamos teniendo que resguardarnos muchísimo”, reconoce a través de un audio. Una impronta similar a las detectadas en lugares tan disímiles como la Recoleta porteña y Paraná, en Entre Ríos.

La red del negocio incluye el cruce de fronteras. “Ya te paso el contacto de nuestro distributer en Argentina!” (sic), señala rápidamente un vendedor desde un prefijo colombiano, oculto tras el nombre “Agua de Vida”, uno de los eufemismos con los que se denomina al dióxido de cloro. Apelan a ese eufemismo, ellos mismo aclaran, porque Facebook elimina cualquier alusión vinculada a esa sustancia. Ante la consulta de Chequeado, desde la empresa afirmaron que en relación al COVID-19, remueven “contenido que pueda generar daño físico inminente como el consumo humano del dióxido de cloro, falsas medidas de prevención o afirmaciones que niegan la existencia del virus”. Esto aplica al contenido orgánico y a los anuncios. Para este trabajo utilizan una combinación de tecnología, revisión humana y reportes de la comunidad.

Pero si muchos promotores de esta sustancia química se saben bajo la lupa, aún así aprovechan las nuevas tecnologías. Es el caso de Rodolfo, quien detalla desde Tucumán que envían pedidos a todo el país desde “el laboratorio de la farmacia” y que los métodos de pago incluyen Mercadopago, transferencia bancaria, depósito bancario o pago por Pago Fácil. En México y Colombia, incluso, los proveedores ofrecen enviar el paquete por Uber o Didi cuando el trayecto es dentro de la misma ciudad.

Para los cientos de personas que consumen la sustancia, existen múltiples grupos de WhatsApp, Telegram y Facebook que explican cómo prepararla o tomarla de acuerdo a la enfermedad que se padezca, y en función de los antecedentes. Por eso, los proveedores también aprovechan para ofrecer cursos de capacitación. Las clases se repiten todo el año por Zoom y se ofrecen por 30 dólares.

Ante la más mínima duda sobre el producto, algunos comerciantes buscan persuadir sobre sus beneficios. “Tenés que decidir si seguir con la tele encendida o hacer CDS. Eso ya depende de vos, de cuán influenciable seas y de cuánto miedo te inocularon”, aconseja Gabriel cuando se le pregunta si puede haber riesgos al tomarlo.

Por fuera de las redes sociales, con sólo googlear se descubre que hay páginas webs que están aún disponibles y que venden la sustancia de forma encubierta. Una de esas páginas -que Chequeado omite identificar- con envíos a la Argentina, afirma ser manejada por un “investigador” argentino que acumula más de 50 dominios en Internet registrados, destinados a la venta de la misma sustancia en Perú. Ese argentino dice formar parte de “Sinergia 8”, un grupo que declama ser integrado por “investigadores, médicos y terapeutas” de varios países de Sudamérica “que estos últimos 10 años han estado investigando protocolos alternativos para curaciones verdaderas y permanentes”.

Su canal de YouTube fue eliminado por infringir las reglas de la plataforma, mientras que en su cuenta de Facebook -donde cuenta con más de mil seguidores- comparte testimonios de personas que consumen el dióxido de cloro y publicaciones sobre los “buenos efectos” de la sustancia. Según “CDSPeru.net”, uno de los grupos que forman parte de “Sinergia 8”, Kalcker forma parte del grupo.

Chequeado comprobó que al menos uno de los teléfonos que aparecen disponibles en la página ofreciendo CDS está en Mendoza. Una persona al otro lado de la línea recomendó ponerse en contacto con la Coalición Mundial por la Salud y la Vida (Comusav), una organización que agrupa a médicos y profesionales de la salud que se dedica a “despertar la conciencia de todas las personas”, según describe su página web, y que promueve asesoramiento gratuito para casos de coronavirus.

La referente de este grupo en la Argentina es la doctora Fabiana Guastavino, quien dice abiertamente que cada vez más médicos y políticos consumen el dióxido (ver recuadro).

Algunos, sin embargo, ya afrontan problemas legales. El supuesto titular de “mms.com.ar”, otra de las páginas que vende kits para producir esta sustancia, Leonardo Daniel Binello, fue denunciado por el abogado Victor Castillejo Arias ante la Unidad Fiscal para la Investigación de Delitos contra el Medio Ambiente (UFIMA).

Los profetas del dióxido de cloro
Los grupos de Facebook están plagados de imágenes de Kalcker. Pero, ¿quién es?

Su nombre completo es Andreas Ludwig Kalcker y en su página web oficial se autodefine como “investigador biofísico”. Su título fue “acreditado” como “Doctor de Filosofía en Medicina Alternativa y Biofísica Natural” por la Open University of Advanced Sciences, una universidad naturista acusada de vender títulos por internet -con domicilio en Barcelona y con domicilio fiscal en Miami, Estados Unidos- que se desliga en su página web de Kalcker y aclara que “no mantiene ningún tipo de vínculo con la Iglesia Génesis II, ni tampoco aboga por el uso médico o terapéutico del MMS”.

Radicado en Suiza, publicó 2 libros, “CDS la salud es posible” y “Salud Prohibida”, y comenzó a promover el dióxido de cloro luego de, según afirma, haberlo probado en sí mismo para curar su artritis. Su historial no es inmaculado. En 2012 fue detenido por la Guardia Civil española por un supuesto delito contra la salud pública, mientras impartía en Ibiza otra de sus charlas para promocionar y vender el MMS.

Suele dar conferencias sobre los beneficios de la sustancia, incluso en universidades, y su historial también incluye un paso por la Argentina. En diciembre de 2019, meses antes de que comenzara la cuarentena en nuestro país, Kalcker dio una conferencia en el “Hotel Bauen” y otra en el “Cyan Hotel de las Américas”, ambos en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (CABA), sobre “terapias oxigenativas”. Según el día y la conferencia, la entrada costaba desde US$ 25 a US$ 100 por persona.

En la Argentina también tiene problemas judiciales. En agosto último, fue denunciado por Castillejo Arias ante el Ministerio Público Fiscal, desde donde ratificaron la denuncia penal a mediados de enero último ante el Juzgado Nacional en lo Criminal y Correccional Federal Nº 4, a cargo del juez federal Ariel Lijo. La investigación penal apunta contra Kalcker y un grupo de argentinos que habrían vendido y distribuido dióxido de cloro. En el marco de la causa, a principios de marzo último se encontró y allanó un laboratorio clandestino en Mar del Plata, por orden del juez Lijo.

Desde el juzgado de Lijo confirmaron a Chequeado que al momento son 4 los imputados en la investigación, que existen tareas en curso en 2 domicilios vinculados a la causa, y que en el último allanamiento se secuestraron libros de Kalcker que el imputado vendía.

Un “obispo” comerciante
Entre los distribuidores de la sustancia, hay un nombre que descolla: el de Luis Enrique García, quien se presenta a sí mismo como “Obispo” y “único distribuidor autorizado”. Y por mail ofrece su “sacramento”, aunque el precio difiere si es para uso “familiar” o “profesional” y si es en combo o con activador solo (ácido clorhídrico). El envío se puede enviar por Correo Argentino y las opciones de pago incluye transferencia bancaria o Mercado Pago.

Aún así, García es cauto. Aclara que por “razones obvias” no utiliza más etiquetas eclesiásticas para sus productos, sino que las botellas “irán con un papel en blanco”, sin aludir a la “Iglesia Cristiana Genesis II” que dice representar.

La “Iglesia Génesis II de la Salud y la Sanación” fue fundada por Jim Humble -“creador” del MMS- junto a Mark Grenon, actual líder, y se retiró de ella en 2017. Grenon y su hijo fueron detenidos y extraditados desde Colombia a Miami por petición de la Justicia estadounidense, acusados de fabricar, promover y vender decenas de miles de botellas de la llamada “Solución Mineral Milagrosa” o MMS (por sus siglas en inglés) como remedio contra todo tipo de dolencias, entre ellas el autismo, la malaria y el cáncer.

Saben que se mueven por terrenos vedados. Apenas se abre el sitio web, un cartel advierte sobre la prohibición de la sustancia: “Atencion el MMS y el CDS estan prohibidos por ANMAT y FDA. Lo expresado en este sitio es antes de la prohibición y para información de la gente que quiera colaborar con los obispos presos. No proveemos ni MMS ni CDS ni los elementos para hacerlo. No insista” (sic). Otro cartel suma: “Atención el MMS y CDS han sido prohibidos por la ANMAT en Argentina y la FDA en USA, no se autoriza su uso en humanos, lo expuesto aquí es antes de la prohibición”.

La página contiene múltiples pestañas con los protocolos según la enfermedad y las experiencias y consultas de usuarios sobre la administración del dióxido de cloro, que se retrotraen a 2011. “Donde comprar el producto MMS, en capital o provincia”, comentó un usuario llamado Roberto el 27 de mayo de 2011. “Hola Roberto lo podes comprar y en Cap.Fed, Arg. o en Merlo, San Luis Arg. podes retirarlo de otra forma, te enviamos por el medio mas conveniente. Una vez que compres, por correo te pasamos los datos. Buena Salud !. Luis” (sic).

En el resto de América Latina, la iglesia también tiene representación. Según el sitio chileno El Dinamo, por ejemplo, la supuesta “iglesia” cuenta en ese país con al menos 2 “obispos” y más de 200 ministros. Chequeado se comunicó con García y se identificó como periodista, pero al momento de la publicación de esta nota no tuvo respuesta.

Cuando se judicializa la salud
Así como proliferan los vendedores, sin embargo, también comienzan a irrumpir las muertes. La de Juan Andrés Ríos no fue la única. Días después de su fallecimiento en agosto de 2020, el país quedó conmocionado por la muerte de un chico de 5 años en Plottier, Neuquén, tras ingerir la misma sustancia. Según contó el jefe de Atención Médica del hospital, Rafael Palomino, los padres confesaron que se la habían suministrado de modo preventivo. El peritaje médico informó que el niño había muerto por una falla multiorgánica y que los hallazgos son compatibles con el dióxido de cloro.

Según explicaron desde el Ministerio Público Fiscal a Chequeado, dentro de la causa se pidieron más estudios complementarios, aunque hasta la fecha de esta publicación no hay imputados ni detenidos por esa muerte.

Cinco meses después, en enero, el dióxido de cloro volvió a irrumpir en la agenda pública. Pero esta vez por una controvertida intervención de la Justicia. Mediante una medida cautelar, el juez Javier Pico Terrero, titular del Juzgado Civil y Comercial Federal N° 7, autorizó la administración del dióxido de cloro a un paciente de 93 años en grave estado en el Sanatorio Otamendi, quien falleció luego de la ingesta. Según confirmó el abogado de la familia Martín Sarubbi a este medio, la autopsia y el informe histopatológico (es decir, el examen de los tejidos) ya se realizaron, aunque falta un estudio complementario para determinar las causales del fallecimiento.

Después de marchas y contramarchas entre la Justicia y el Sanatorio Otamendi, el neurocirujano Dante Converti fue quien suministró la sustancia a Oscar García Rúa. Pero el médico terminó envuelto en una investigación abierta por el Ministerio de Salud de la Nación, que descubrió varias irregularidades.

“Cuando uno consume una sustancia que está fuera del circuito legal, ¿quién la prescribe? ¿quién la dispensa? ¿dónde se consigue? Esas serían las preguntas”, reflexionó Santiago Palma, farmacéutico, bioquímico e investigador del Conicet, en diálogo con Chequeado. “Es muy distinto cuando existe un recurso de amparo donde se insta a utilizar un tratamiento legal que no está cubierto por una obra social, porque en ese caso en particular el medicamento está aprobado y, por lo tanto, se consigue en el circuito legal. Si a través de la judicialización de los tratamientos, un juez promueve el uso de un tratamiento no aprobado legalmente el consumo de esa sustancia va a ser a través del mercado ilegal, porque no existe en ningún lugar la posibilidad de comprar ese producto de manos seguras”, abundó.

Una sustancia no autorizada
La Administración Nacional de Medicamentos, Alimentos y Tecnología Médica (ANMAT) dio de baja ya más de 700 los anuncios en Mercado Libre, en el marco de un acuerdo con la plataforma vigente desde 2012, según confirmaron desde el organismo a este medio. Pero el esfuerzo parece insuficiente. Chequeado identificó diversos grupos de Facebook que intercambian contactos de proveedores de dióxido de cloro y son difundidos e intercambiados entre los usuarios.

El dióxido de cloro no está autorizado por la ANMAT ni por ninguna agencia reguladora de medicamentos en el mundo como un tratamiento médico porque no hay evidencia sobre su eficacia. Según enfatizan diversos entes regulatorios y organismos científicos, tanto a nivel nacional (como la ANMAT, la Sociedad Argentina de Infectología y la Asociación Toxicológica Argentina) como internacional (como la Organización Panamericana de la Salud, la Agencia Española de Medicamentos y Productos Sanitarios y la Administración de Alimentos y Medicamentos de los Estados Unidos), su ingesta puede causar irritación en el esófago y estómago, dolor abdominal, náuseas, vómitos, diarrea e intoxicaciones severas, que pueden incluir graves trastornos hematológicos, cardiovasculares y renales, así como complicaciones respiratorias, como bronquitis crónica y erosiones dentales.

Sólo Bolivia avanzó, hasta cierto punto, por la senda de la autorización. La Asamblea Legislativa Plurinacional (ALP) sancionó una ley que autoriza la elaboración, la comercialización, el suministro y el uso de la sustancia como prevención y tratamiento para la COVID-19, que fue promulgada por la presidenta de la ALP pese a las múltiples observaciones que planteó el Ejecutivo con respecto a la falta de evidencia científica. El exministro de Salud boliviano, Edgar Pozo, calificó la sustancia como “permisible” en tanto “medicina alternativa”. Sin embargo, actualmente (al 22 de abril último), el dióxido de cloro no cuenta con registro sanitario en la Agencia Estatal de Medicamentos y Tecnologías en Salud de Bolivia.

La sustancia es mundialmente utilizada como blanqueador en las fábricas que producen papel, como desinfectante de superficies inertes y en las plantas de tratamiento de agua para potabilizar el agua. Según la Agencia de Protección del Medio Ambiente (EPA, por sus siglas en inglés) de los Estados Unidos, la concentración de más de 0,8 mg/L (miligramos por litro) de dióxido de cloro en el agua potable es condición para que deje de ser considerada apta para el consumo.

Sin embargo, en el MMS la cantidad recomendada por los “protocolos” es 200 veces superior a la ingesta diaria máxima, explicó a Chequeado Patricia Lucero, bioquímica especialista en Toxicología, bioquímica legal de la Facultad de Ciencias Químicas y miembro de la Asociación Toxicológica Argentina (ATA).

“En nuestro país el dióxido de cloro está autorizado como agente químico desinfectante de superficies [N. de la R.: por lo general, en la industria alimenticia], como la lavandina y otros derivados clorados, para ese uso específico, regulado por la ANMAT, pero está clara y totalmente contraindicada su ingesta o aplicación sobre las personas. Es la misma recomendación que se hace para cualquier otra sustancia química, como se recomienda no consumir nafta, lavandina o la sílica gel que viene en las cajas de zapatillas o carteras por ser sustancias químicas no aptas para su consumo humano”, explicó Saracco.

“Es muy difícil tener una flota de inspectores que salga a inspeccionar, eso se hace a través de denuncias. Si es algo clandestino, es muy difícil estar buscándolo porque no saben cómo lo hacen, como lo manufacturan. Todos los medicamentos tienen que estar explícitamente aprobados a través de ensayos clínicos para un uso. Lo que no está autorizado, está prohibido”, destacó Ignacio Maglio, jefe del Departamento de Riesgo Médico Legal del Hospital Muñiz y coordinador del área de Promoción de Derechos de la Fundación Huésped.

En Facebook, varios de los argumentos de los usuarios que consumen y promocionan la sustancia tóxica radican en que hace años que lo toman y que no les hace nada porque, según ellos, “no es tóxico” y es un desinfectante. “En muchos de esos videos se hacen referencia a publicaciones que no tienen que ver con la potencial eficacia terapéutica sino al uso como biocida de la sustancia -en este caso, como desinfectante- y, por lo tanto, no existe una hipótesis farmacológica sólida que haga suponer que esta sustancia puede ser utilizada como medicamento, además de que su uso puede provocar efectos tóxicos”, explicó Palma en diálogo con este medio.

“El argumento fáctico que dan es eso, si sirve in vitro por qué no in vivo, o peor aún, si a mí me funcionó, sin que se haya hecho un ensayo clínico, funciona. Eso es extremadamente peligroso. Cuando se populariza algo sin validez clínica, muchas personas dejan el tratamiento convencional probado científicamente para utilizar el otro supuestamente milagroso. Que un grupo de personas reporte un efecto beneficioso no es un estudio clínico, no es científico”, aseguró Palma.

Juan Andrés Ríos cayó en la estafa. Perteneció a la inmensa lista de personas que son engañadas con curas milagrosas a diario. Mientras la Ciencia intenta, sin descanso, desarrollar soluciones probadas y testeadas tanto para el coronavirus como para otras enfermedades, en paralelo y ante la desesperación de encontrar una solución rápida, personas como el hermano de Gloria caen en desinformaciones que, en provecho del miedo y la incertidumbre, pueden terminar siendo aún más peligrosas para la salud.

Artistas, influencers y religiosos fans de Kalcker
“Yo quiero felicitar a Vero, que está realmente empujando muy fuerte la verdad porque creo que lo necesitamos todos”. La frase es de Andreas Kalcker en un video íntimo con Verónica del Castillo, conductora, escritora y hermana de la famosa actriz mexicana Kate del Castillo.

Verónica del Castillo participa de las conferencias de la Coalición Mundial Salud y Vida (Comusav) y promueve el uso del dióxido de cloro de diversas formas. Por ejemplo, en este video de Instagram menciona que lo usa para curar una herida de su perro y la herida de uno de sus amigos que se quemó la mano. También comenta que ella se lo aplica en su rostro antes de ponerse sus cremas y que esto funciona como un humectante, y hasta quita manchas de sol.

Un caso similar es el de Ethel Soriano, conductora mexicana de “Bien y Saludable”, un programa radial. En ambos casos, las famosas ofrecen contactos de proveedores y realizan entrevistas a quienes lo usan.

En Colombia, el sector mediático también es un ámbito central para la difusión de este producto. Cony Camelo, actriz colombiana, quien cuenta con cerca de 200 mil seguidores en Twitter, defendió en varias ocasiones el consumo del dióxido de cloro. A Samir Namen, un influencer colombiano, la Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio de dicho país le abrió una investigación por vender la sustancia, y a Natalia París, modelo y DJ -que cuenta con 1,6 millones de seguidores en Instagram-, le ordenó dejar de promoverla y retirar los comentarios en los que invitaba a tomar dióxido de cloro de sus redes sociales en enero de 2021.

En la Argentina, la conductora y periodista Viviana Canosa lo consumió en vivo en la televisión días después de haberse pronunciado a favor de Kalcker.

Al igual que los artistas, la religión está involucrada en Colombia con el dióxido de cloro. Samuel Ángel es colombiano, abogado, escritor y director ejecutivo del Movimiento de Católicos Solidaridad. Además, hizo carrera en medios de comunicación religiosos y fue candidato en 2 oportunidades para el Concejo de Bogotá. Se manifiesta abiertamente en contra de la “ideología de género” y el aborto. La Comusav y movimientos internacionales que desinforman
Tanto en la Argentina como en México y Colombia –y en al menos 15 países más-, la Coalición Mundial Salud y Vida (Comusav) crece cada día más. Su principal referente a nivel mundial es Andreas Kalcker, y su misión es “despertar la conciencia de todas las personas”, de acuerdo a su página web. Según pudo conocer Chequeado, la Coalición ofrece a través de sus canales de contacto asesoramiento para pacientes con coronavirus.

De acuerdo al medio Business Insider, Facebook eliminó páginas y grupos de la Comusav que promocionan el dióxido de cloro como una cura para COVID-19 después de una investigación del medio. Facebook dijo a Insider que el grupo violó sus políticas contra la difusión de información médica errónea.

Según un análisis de First Draft, también se eliminaron en Facebook las páginas de la Comusav para la Argentina y México -aunque actualmente hay una página internacional disponible– y los canales de YouTube. Tras este último hecho, el grupo migró a otras plataformas, adoptando redes sociales marginales, como Orbys, para transmitir eventos.

En la Argentina uno de sus referentes es la doctora Fabiana Guastavino -cuya matrícula está habilitada en la Provincia de Buenos Aires, según el Sistema Integrado de Información Sanitaria Argentino (SISA)- quien dice que cada vez más médicos y políticos consumen el dióxido, aunque sin aportar ningún nombre.

En Colombia, uno de sus referentes es Eduardo Insignares, presidente de la Coalición, quien incluso aparece como director investigativo de un ensayo clínico registrado en Clinicaltrials.gov. desde el 7 de abril de 2020, para evaluar la eficacia del consumo de dióxido de cloro oral en pacientes con COVID-19. Al parecer lo hizo saltándose todos los protocolos.

La Coalición realiza eventos semanales sobre “medicina integrativa” y transmite en vivo desde distintos países del mundo. Por ejemplo, en noviembre último, la Comusav realizó un evento virtual conducido por Verónica del Castillo, en el que también se exigía el uso del dióxido de cloro en los hospitales. En dicho país, uno de sus referentes y principales defensores del dióxido de cloro es el doctor Manuel Aparicio Alonso, presentado por Del Castillo como el vicepresidente de Comusav México.

Como en la Argentina, en México y Colombia existen grupos de médicos matriculados que abogan por el dióxido de cloro. “Mexicanos Patriotas por la Verdad” y “Médicos por la Verdad México” son algunos de ellos. Como una de sus banderas, destacan constantemente que sí hay pruebas que demuestran la efectividad del dióxido de cloro.

“Abogados por la Verdad”, otro de los grupos de profesionales organizados, demandó el plan de vacunación del gobierno colombiano y solicitó la realización de estudios con dióxido de cloro. En su alegatos y entrevistas en medios, los abogados Cristian Ayala Guerrero y Jorge Herrera Rico señalaron: “Le reducen los requisitos a las farmaceúticas para que aprueben las vacunas y las aprueban rápidamente. Sin embargo, cuando hay otro tipo de tratamientos como el del doctor Insignares que es el del dióxido de cloro que, jamás se ha probado, no hay una evidencia científica, ni del Invima ni en el mundo, que diga que eso provoca daños permanentes. El Invima guarda silencio a otro tipo de tratamientos como la Ivermectina”.

México: alcaldes e intendentes que reparten y promueven la sustancia
El sistema político es otro de los sectores que promueve su consumo en algunos países de la región. En México, el regidor del Ayuntamiento de Torreón, Eduardo González Madero -equivalente a los intendentes de los municipios en la Argentina-, publicó un video en Facebook en el que mencionó que tanto él como su familia consumen la sustancia desde hace años y lo han “utilizado para distintos tipos de enfermedades, todos con resultados positivos”, promoviendo y pidiendo la investigación de la sustancia.

Alcaldes de dicho país también abogan por la sustancia de forma pública, como el caso del alcalde de Francisco Madero, Coahuila, Jonathan Ávalos Rodríguez, quien anunció que repartirá dióxido de cloro a pacientes enfermos de COVID-19, o el alcalde de Campeche, Eliseo Fernández Montufar, quien habló de instalar una planta para que la gente de ese municipio tenga acceso al dióxido de cloro.

No todos pertenecen al mismo espacio político. Madero es miembro del Partido Acción Nacional (PAN), contrario al oficialista Morena, el partido de Andrés Manuel López Obrador, el presidente de México; Montufar llegó a la Alcaldía impulsado por el PAN y ahora es candidato a la gubernatura de Campeche por Movimiento Ciudadano (MC), también partido de oposición. Ávalos Rodríguez sí pertenece a Morena, aunque la misma Comisión Municipal de Morena se deslinda de sus actos con respecto al dióxido.

Excelente articulo, muy completo. Permite a los neofitos como yo tener una perspectiva valida sobre todo el asunto del Dioxido de Cloro….pero concluyo que la balanza de Lucia se inclinó hacia “malo” muy rapidamente….le sugiero, si fuera posible, un research y reporte con personas que directamente lo consumen o que hayan sido beneficiadas con la sustancia…o sea, por ponerlo de algun modo, la parte “positiva”….o es que no hay?

Chlorine dioxide: who sells this illegal and toxic substance in Argentina and other countries in the region?

Despite the fact that chlorine dioxide is not authorised as a drug in Argentina or by any drug regulatory agency in the world, this substance is promoted as a "miracle solution" to treat various diseases, including coronavirus. It is promoted by people who present themselves as church leaders with open court cases, politicians, influencers, fans of Andreas Kalcker, and even dieticians. While some platforms have policies in place to remove content that can damage health, Chequeado identified dozens of publications that recommend this substance and sell it on WhatsApp.
His brother drank it out of fear and desperation. This is what she repeated over and over again in front of the dozens of journalists who interviewed her. Gloria Ríos lost her brother, Juan Andrés Ríos (51 years old), on 11 August 2020 after he ingested chlorine dioxide in the town of San Pedro, Jujuy province. According to Gloria, her brother acquired the substance from a local person who promoted it on social media as a miracle cure for various illnesses.

Chlorine dioxide is not authorised as a medicine in our country by the National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT) or by any drug regulatory agency in the world. Neither to treat coronavirus, nor any other disease, although it is promoted in Argentina by journalists and celebrities (see box), or even by members of the National Congress.

The substance is not authorised but is sold anyway. It is promoted by people who present themselves as supposed bishops and supposed leaders of a church, who have open court cases, and even politicians and influencers promote something that can lead to death.



It is a derivative of sodium chlorite, a chemical used as a bleach in the paper and textile industry, in water purification and as a disinfectant on inert surfaces. However, the substance has been promoted for years as a supposed "cure" for various diseases: cancer, malaria and ALS, among others, and is illegally marketed in the country and worldwide. With the rise of COVID-19 and the uncertainty of the pandemic, every day chlorine dioxide reaches hundreds of people like Gloria's brother who, in anguish, fall for the scam.

According to his family, Juan Andrés Ríos developed an allergic reaction to chlorine dioxide. His glottis closed and he choked on bronchial aspiration, the doctors explained to the family. No PCR test was done, and he never had official confirmation that he had coronavirus. In fact, after the death, all of his cohabitants were swabbed and tested negative. However, out of fear and desperation in the midst of the pandemic, Rios decided to buy it and take it.

"We know that the people who sell these substances that promise a cure or miraculous salvation, like almost all these conspiracy myths, start from a true fact, but from there they derive totally unreal situations. The truth is that chlorine dioxide is a disinfectant substance due to its strong oxidising power," Aldo Saracco, a toxicologist, member of the Scientific Committee of the Argentine Toxicological Association (ATA) and member of the Ibero-American Society of Environmental Health, explained to Chequeado.

"If I apply it in vitro, that is, in a laboratory experiment, it destroys all organic substances by damaging their protein cover, thus destroying bacteria and viruses, as well as any cell, healthy or diseased, in a general and non-specific way. When we apply this in vivo, that is, on a person, this action is exactly the same, it denatures viruses and bacteria, as well as the cells on which it comes into contact; this is how it damages the normal protein structures present in the digestive tract or at the blood level and the rest of the body," Saracco remarked. In other words, it destroys the virus at the same time as the organism, without differentiating.

Who is behind the sale of the substance in Argentina?

The versatility of offers and prices of this substance in the country is striking. It is offered in different formats: 250 ml bottles and 5-litre packs, ranging from $700 to $7000. If one chooses to prepare the substance at home, the "kits" - i.e. sodium chlorite plus activator (hydrochloric or citric acid) - are offered from $600 to $3500. Prices increase if the pipette for preparation and test strips are offered, and differ according to the packaging material (plastic or PET glass).

As in Mexico and Colombia, in Argentina there is no homogeneous profile of chlorine dioxide suppliers and, as it is not endorsed or regulated by health authorities, there is no homogenisation in relation to how or how much is taken.

In many cases, traders boast that they follow the formulas and indications of the official website of Andreas Kalcker, a German pseudoscientist who claims to be the creator of CDS (chlorine dioxide solution), a substance based on MMS (Miracle Mineral Solution). This is the case of Máximo, who sends a copy of Kalcker's book "Salud Prohibida" (Forbidden Health) by e-mail from Mendoza to anyone who buys one of his products. A sort of "instruction manual" for preparing the product. Other sellers, on the other hand, go so far as to attach explanatory videos.

Many sellers, however, know that they are dealing with a controversial substance. For example, a health food store in Córdoba does not advertise it on their social networks, but they admit that they sell it on WhatsApp. And in Martínez, Province of Buenos Aires, another dietetic is cautious and asks how their contact was obtained before providing information. They claim to sell "natural products" on Facebook, but once the trust barrier has been overcome, they admit via WhatsApp that they offer CDS, although they clarify that, for the moment, they do not have availability.

Chequeado does not mention the names of these shops or other suppliers of chlorine dioxide in this article to avoid the dissemination of substances not authorised by ANMAT because they were contacted as potential buyers, to prove how easy it is to obtain this toxic substance today, without identifying themselves as journalists.

The profiles of the dealers vary. Stella, in Mar del Plata, who has a profile picture of the stars, prepares chlorine dioxide with her own hands, but is very cautious with the information she disseminates: in her case she gives advice through this channel, but does not send protocols nor does she deliver her products with a label. "We are having to be very cautious", she acknowledges in an audio message. A similar pattern to those detected in places as dissimilar as Recoleta in Buenos Aires and Paraná, in Entre Ríos.

The business network includes crossing borders. "I'll pass you the contact details of our distributor in Argentina! (sic), a salesman quickly points out from a Colombian prefix, hidden behind the name "Agua de Vida", one of the euphemisms with which chlorine dioxide is called. They use this euphemism, they themselves explain, because Facebook removes any allusion to this substance. When asked by Chequeado, the company stated that in relation to COVID-19, they remove "content that could cause imminent physical harm such as human consumption of chlorine dioxide, false prevention measures or statements that deny the existence of the virus". This applies to organic content and advertisements. For this work they use a combination of technology, human review and community reports.

But if many promoters of this chemical know they are under the spotlight, they still take advantage of new technologies. This is the case of Rodolfo, who details from Tucumán that they send orders all over the country from "the laboratory of the pharmacy" and that payment methods include Mercadopago, bank transfer, bank deposit or payment by Pago Fácil. In Mexico and Colombia, suppliers even offer to send the package by Uber or Didi when the journey is within the same city.

For the hundreds of people who use the substance, there are multiple groups on WhatsApp, Telegram and Facebook that explain how to prepare it or take it according to the illness they suffer from, and depending on their medical history. For this reason, providers also take the opportunity to offer training courses. The classes are repeated throughout the year by Zoom and are offered for 30 dollars.

At the slightest hesitation about the product, some traders seek to persuade about its benefits. "You have to decide whether to keep the TV on or do CDS. That's up to you, how much you can be influenced and how much fear you've been inoculated with," Gabriel advises when asked if there are any risks involved in taking it.

Outside of social media, googling reveals that there are websites that are still available and covertly selling the substance. One of these pages - which Chequeado omits to identify - with shipments to Argentina, claims to be managed by an Argentinean "researcher" who accumulates more than 50 registered internet domains for the sale of the same substance in Peru. This Argentinian claims to be part of "Sinergia 8", a group claiming to be made up of "researchers, doctors and therapists" from various South American countries "who for the last 10 years have been investigating alternative protocols for real and permanent cures".

Its YouTube channel was removed for violating the platform's rules, while on its Facebook account - where it has more than a thousand followers - it shares testimonials from people who consume chlorine dioxide and posts about the "good effects" of the substance. According to "CDSPeru.net", one of the groups that are part of "Sinergia 8", Kalcker is part of the group.

Chequeado verified that at least one of the phone numbers available on the CDS website is in Mendoza. A person on the other end of the line recommended contacting the Global Coalition for Health and Life (Comusav), an umbrella organisation of doctors and health professionals dedicated to "awakening the conscience of all people", as described on its website, and which promotes free counselling for coronavirus cases.

The group's spokesperson in Argentina is Dr Fabiana Guastavino, who says openly that more and more doctors and politicians are using the dioxide (see box).

Some, however, are already facing legal problems. The alleged owner of "mms.com.ar", another website selling kits to produce this substance, Leonardo Daniel Binello, was denounced by lawyer Victor Castillejo Arias before the Prosecutor's Unit for the Investigation of Crimes against the Environment (UFIMA).

Chlorine dioxide prophets
Facebook groups are full of images of Kalcker. But who is he?

His full name is Andreas Ludwig Kalcker and on his official website he describes himself as a "biophysical researcher". His degree was "accredited" as "Doctor of Philosophy in Alternative Medicine and Natural Biophysics" by the Open University of Advanced Sciences, a naturopathic university accused of selling degrees on the internet - domiciled in Barcelona and with fiscal domicile in Miami, USA - which dissociates itself on its website from Kalcker and clarifies that it "does not maintain any links with the Genesis II Church, nor does it advocate the medical or therapeutic use of MMS".

Based in Switzerland, he published 2 books, "CDS Health is Possible" and "Health Forbidden", and began promoting chlorine dioxide after, he claims, having tried it on himself to cure his arthritis. His record is not spotless. In 2012 he was arrested by the Spanish Guardia Civil for an alleged public health offence while giving another of his talks in Ibiza to promote and sell MMS.

He often lectures on the benefits of the substance, including at universities, and his track record also includes a stint in Argentina. In December 2019, months before the quarantine began in our country, Kalcker gave a lecture at the "Hotel Bauen" and another at the "Cyan Hotel de las Americas", both in the City of Buenos Aires (CABA), on "oxygen therapies". Depending on the day and the conference, the entrance fee ranged from US$ 25 to US$ 100 per person.

In Argentina, he also has legal problems. Last August, he was denounced by Castillejo Arias before the Public Prosecutor's Office, from where they ratified the criminal complaint in mid-January before the National Criminal and Correctional Federal Court No. 4, in charge of federal judge Ariel Lijo. The criminal investigation targets Kalcker and a group of Argentinians who allegedly sold and distributed chlorine dioxide. As part of the case, a clandestine laboratory in Mar del Plata was found and raided at the beginning of March last year, on the orders of Judge Lijo.

The Lijo court confirmed to Chequeado that at the moment there are four people charged in the investigation, that there are ongoing tasks in two homes linked to the case, and that in the last raid Kalcker's books that the accused was selling were seized.

A "bishop" dealer
Among the distributors of the substance, one name stands out: that of Luis Enrique García, who presents himself as "Bishop" and "the only authorised distributor". And by mail he offers his "sacrament", although the price differs whether it is for "family" or "professional" use and whether it is in a combo or with activator alone (hydrochloric acid). Shipping can be sent by Correo Argentino and payment options include bank transfer or Mercado Pago.

Even so, García is cautious. He clarifies that for "obvious reasons" he no longer uses ecclesiastical labels for his products, but that the bottles will "go with a blank piece of paper", without alluding to the "Genesis II Christian Church" he claims to represent.

The "Genesis II Church of Health and Healing" was founded by Jim Humble - "creator" of MMS - along with Mark Grenon, the current leader, and he withdrew from it in 2017. Grenon and his son were arrested and extradited from Colombia to Miami at the request of the US justice system, accused of manufacturing, promoting and selling tens of thousands of bottles of the so-called "Miracle Mineral Solution" or MMS as a remedy for all kinds of ailments, including autism, malaria and cancer.

They know that they are on forbidden ground. As soon as the website is opened, a sign warns about the prohibition of the substance: "Attention MMS and CDS are prohibited by ANMAT and FDA. What is expressed on this site is before the ban and for the information of people who want to collaborate with the imprisoned bishops. We provide neither MMS nor CDS nor the elements to do so. Do not insist" (sic). Another poster adds: "Attention MMS and CDS have been banned by the ANMAT in Argentina and the FDA in the USA, they are not authorised for use in humans, what is exposed here is before the ban".

The page contains multiple tabs with protocols according to the disease and user experiences and consultations on the administration of chlorine dioxide, going back to 2011. "Where to buy the MMS product, in the capital or province," commented a user named Roberto on 27 May 2011. "Hello Roberto you can buy it and in Cap.Fed, Arg. or in Merlo, San Luis Arg. you can pick it up in another way, we send it to you by the most convenient way. Once you buy, by mail we pass you the data. Good health. Luis" (sic).

In the rest of Latin America, the church is also represented. According to the Chilean site El Dinamo, for example, the supposed "church" has at least 2 "bishops" and more than 200 ministers in that country. Chequeado contacted García and identified himself as a journalist, but at the time of publication of this article he had no response.

When health is judicialised

As vendors proliferate, however, so too do deaths. The death of Juan Andrés Ríos was not the only one. Days after his death in August 2020, the country was shocked by the death of a five-year-old boy in Plottier, Neuquén, after ingesting the same substance. According to the head of medical care at the hospital, Rafael Palomino, the parents confessed that they had given it to him as a preventive measure. The medical expertise reported that the child had died from multi-organ failure and that the findings were compatible with chlorine dioxide.

According to what the Public Prosecutor's Office explained to Chequeado, more complementary studies were requested in the case, although as of the date of this publication, no one had been charged or arrested for the death.

Five months later, in January, chlorine dioxide was back on the public agenda. But this time because of a controversial intervention by the judiciary. By means of a precautionary measure, Judge Javier Pico Terrero, head of Federal Civil and Commercial Court No. 7, authorised the administration of chlorine dioxide to a 93-year-old patient in serious condition at the Otamendi Sanatorium, who died after ingesting it. According to the family's lawyer Martín Sarubbi, the autopsy and the histopathological report (i.e. the examination of the tissues) have already been carried out, although a complementary study is needed to determine the cause of death.

After a series of back-and-forth between the courts and the Otamendi Sanatorium, neurosurgeon Dante Converti was the one who administered the substance to Oscar García Rúa. But the doctor ended up involved in an investigation opened by the National Ministry of Health, which discovered several irregularities.

"When you take a substance that is outside the legal circuit, who prescribes it, who dispenses it, where do you get it? These are the questions," reflected Santiago Palma, pharmacist, biochemist and Conicet researcher, in an interview with Chequeado. "It is very different when there is an appeal for legal protection to use a legal treatment that is not covered by a social security system, because in that particular case the medicine is approved and, therefore, it is available through the legal circuit. If through the judicialisation of treatments, a judge promotes the use of a treatment that is not legally approved, the consumption of that substance is going to be through the illegal market, because there is no possibility of buying that product from safe hands anywhere," he added.

An unauthorised substance

The National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT) has already removed more than 700 ads from Mercado Libre, as part of an agreement with the platform that has been in force since 2012, the agency confirmed to this newspaper. But the effort seems insufficient. Chequeado identified several Facebook groups that exchange contacts of chlorine dioxide suppliers and are disseminated and exchanged among users.

Chlorine dioxide is not authorised by ANMAT or any drug regulatory agency in the world as a medical treatment because there is no evidence of its efficacy. According to various regulatory and scientific bodies, both nationally (such as ANMAT, the Argentinean Society of Infectious Diseases and the Argentinean Toxicological Association) and internationally (such as the Pan American Health Organisation, the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products and the US Food and Drug Administration), chlorine dioxide's ingestion can cause irritation to the skin and eyes, its ingestion can cause irritation of the oesophagus and stomach, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and severe poisoning, which can include serious haematological, cardiovascular and renal disorders, as well as respiratory complications, such as chronic bronchitis and dental erosions.

Only Bolivia moved, to some extent, along the path of authorisation. The Plurinational Legislative Assembly (ALP) passed a law authorising the development, marketing, supply and use of the substance as prevention and treatment for COVID-19, which was enacted by the president of the ALP despite multiple observations from the executive regarding the lack of scientific evidence. Former Bolivian health minister Edgar Pozo described the substance as "permissible" as an "alternative medicine". However, as of 22 April, chlorine dioxide is not currently (as of 22 April) registered with the Bolivian State Agency for Medicines and Health Technologies.

The substance is used worldwide as a bleach in paper mills, as a disinfectant for inert surfaces and in water treatment plants to make water drinkable. According to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), a concentration of more than 0.8 mg/L (milligrams per litre) of chlorine dioxide in drinking water is a condition for it to be considered unfit for consumption.

However, in MMS, the amount recommended by the "protocols" is 200 times higher than the maximum daily intake, Patricia Lucero, a biochemist specialising in Toxicology, legal biochemist at the Faculty of Chemical Sciences and member of the Argentine Toxicological Association (ATA), explained to Chequeado.

"In our country, chlorine dioxide is authorised as a chemical surface disinfectant agent [generally in the food industry], like bleach and other chlorinated derivatives, for this specific use, regulated by ANMAT, but its ingestion or application on people is clearly and totally contraindicated. It is the same recommendation that is made for any other chemical substance, as it is recommended not to consume naphtha, bleach or the silica gel that comes in the boxes of trainers or handbags because they are chemical substances that are not suitable for human consumption," Saracco explained.

"It is very difficult to have a fleet of inspectors going out to inspect, that is done through complaints. If it's something clandestine, it's very difficult to look for it because they don't know how it's made, how it's manufactured. All medicines have to be explicitly approved through clinical trials for a particular use. What is not authorised is prohibited," said Ignacio Maglio, head of the Department of Legal Medical Risk at the Muñiz Hospital and coordinator of the area of Promotion of Rights at the Huésped Foundation.

On Facebook, several of the arguments of users who consume and promote the toxic substance are that they have been taking it for years and that it does nothing for them because, according to them, "it is not toxic" and it is a disinfectant. "In many of these videos, reference is made to publications that have nothing to do with potential therapeutic efficacy, but rather to the use of the substance as a biocide - in this case, as a disinfectant - and, therefore, there is no solid pharmacological hypothesis to suggest that this substance can be used as a medicine, in addition to the fact that its use can cause toxic effects," Palma explained in a conversation with this newspaper.

"The factual argument they give is that, if it works in vitro why not in vivo, or worse, if it worked for me, without a clinical trial, it works. That is extremely dangerous. When something is popularised without clinical validity, many people leave the conventional scientifically proven treatment to use the other supposedly miraculous one. For a group of people to report a beneficial effect is not a clinical study, it's not scientific," Palma said.

Juan Andrés Ríos fell for the scam. He belonged to the huge list of people who are duped by miracle cures on a daily basis. While science is relentlessly trying to develop tried and tested solutions for the coronavirus and other diseases, in parallel and in desperation to find a quick solution, people like Gloria's brother fall for misinformation that, in the name of fear and uncertainty, can end up being even more dangerous to their health.

Artists, influencers and religious fans of Kalcker
"I want to congratulate Vero, who is really pushing really hard because I think we all need it." The quote comes from Andreas Kalcker in an intimate video with Veronica del Castillo, host, writer and sister of the famous Mexican actress Kate del Castillo.

Veronica del Castillo participates in the conferences of the Global Coalition on Health and Life (Comusav) and promotes the use of chlorine dioxide in various ways. For example, in this Instagram video she mentions that she uses it to heal a wound of her dog and the wound of one of her friends who burned his hand. She also comments that she applies it to her face before applying her creams and that it works as a moisturiser, and even removes sun spots.

A similar case is that of Ethel Soriano, Mexican host of "Bien y Saludable", a radio programme. In both cases, celebrities offer supplier contacts and conduct interviews with users.

In Colombia, the media sector is also a central arena for the dissemination of this product. Cony Camelo, a Colombian actress with nearly 200,000 followers on Twitter, has repeatedly defended the use of chlorine dioxide. Samir Namen, a Colombian influencer, was investigated by the Colombian Superintendence of Industry and Commerce for selling the substance, and Natalia París, a model and DJ with 1.6 million followers on Instagram, was ordered to stop promoting it and remove comments inviting people to take chlorine dioxide from her social networks in January 2021.

In Argentina, host and journalist Viviana Canosa consumed it on live television days after she spoke out in favour of Kalcker.

Like artists, religion is involved in Colombia with chlorine dioxide. Samuel Angel is Colombian, a lawyer, writer and executive director of the Catholic Solidarity Movement. He has had a career in religious media and has been a candidate for the Council of Bogotá on two occasions. He is openly against "gender ideology" and abortion. He has published content with alleged testimonies of people who have been cured of COVID-19 by consuming chlorine dioxide and even interviewed Kalcker.

Comusav and international disinformation movements
In Argentina, Mexico and Colombia - and in at least 15 other countries - the Global Coalition on Health and Life (Comusav) is growing every day. Andreas Kalcker is the main reference at the global level, and his mission is to "awaken the conscience of all people", according to his website. According to Chequeado, the Coalition offers counselling for patients with coronavirus through its contact channels.

According to Business Insider, Facebook removed Comusav pages and groups promoting chlorine dioxide as a cure for COVID-19 after an investigation by the media outlet. Facebook told Insider that the group violated its policies against spreading medical misinformation.

According to a First Draft analysis, Comusav's Facebook pages for Argentina and Mexico - although an international page is now available - and YouTube channels were also removed. After the latter, the group migrated to other platforms, adopting marginal social networks, such as Orbys, to broadcast events.

In Argentina, one of its referents is Dr Fabiana Guastavino - whose registration is authorised in the Province of Buenos Aires, according to the Argentine Integrated Health Information System (SISA) - who says that more and more doctors and politicians are using dioxide, although without naming any names.

In Colombia, one of its referents is Eduardo Insignares, president of the Coalition, who even appears as the research director of a clinical trial registered in Clinicaltrials.gov. since 7 April 2020, to evaluate the efficacy of oral chlorine dioxide consumption in patients with COVID-19. It appears to have done so by skirting all protocols.

The Coalition holds weekly events on "integrative medicine" and broadcasts live from countries around the world. For example, last November, Comusav held a virtual event hosted by Veronica del Castillo, which also called for the use of chlorine dioxide in hospitals. In that country, one of the main advocates of chlorine dioxide is Dr Manuel Aparicio Alonso, presented by Del Castillo as the vice-president of Comusav Mexico.

As in Argentina, in Mexico and Colombia there are groups of registered doctors who advocate chlorine dioxide. "Mexicanos Patriotas por la Verdad" and "Médicos por la Verdad México" are among them. As one of their banners, they constantly stress that there is evidence to prove the effectiveness of chlorine dioxide.

"Lawyers for the Truth", another group of organised professionals, sued the Colombian government's vaccination plan and requested that studies with chlorine dioxide be carried out. In their pleadings and media interviews, lawyers Cristian Ayala Guerrero and Jorge Herrera Rico said: "They reduce the requirements for the pharmaceutical companies to approve the vaccines and they approve them quickly. However, when there are other types of treatments such as that of Dr. Insignares, which is chlorine dioxide, which has never been proven, there is no scientific evidence, neither from Invima nor in the world, that says that it causes permanent damage. Invima is silent on other types of treatment such as Ivermectin".

Mexico: Mayors and mayors handing out and promoting the substance
The political system is another sector that promotes its use in some countries in the region. In Mexico, the councillor of the Torreón City Council, Eduardo González Madero - equivalent to the mayors of municipalities in Argentina - published a video on Facebook in which he mentioned that both he and his family have been using the substance for years and have "used it for different types of illnesses, all with positive results", promoting and calling for research into the substance.

Mayors in that country are also publicly advocating for the substance, such as the mayor of Francisco Madero, Coahuila, Jonathan Ávalos Rodríguez, who announced that he will distribute chlorine dioxide to patients suffering from COVID-19, or the mayor of Campeche, Eliseo Fernández Montufar, who spoke of installing a plant so that the people of that municipality would have access to chlorine dioxide.

Not all belong to the same political camp. Madero is a member of the National Action Party (PAN), which opposes the ruling Morena, the party of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the president of Mexico; Montufar became mayor on the PAN's ticket and is now a candidate for the governorship of Campeche for Movimiento Ciudadano (MC), also an opposition party. Ávalos Rodríguez does belong to Morena, although the Morena Municipal Commission itself dissociates itself from his actions with respect to the dioxide.

It allows neophytes like me to have a valid perspective on the whole Chlorine Dioxide issue.... but I conclude that Lucia's balance tipped towards "bad" very quickly.... I suggest, if possible, a research and report with people who directly consume it or who have benefited from the substance...that is, to put it in some way, the "positive" part.... or is there not?

En las presentaciones, para comercializar su “invento” sostenía que servía para combatir el Covid-19 y el cáncer, entre otras patologías. Ahora, tras un año de investigación, fue detenido, acusado de “comercialización de una sustancia nociva para la salud pública”.
Así lo informaron fuentes de la Policía Federal Argentina (PFA). Los operativos con los que fue desbaratada la organización criminal —ordenados por el juez federal Ariel Lijo— fueron el punto final de una investigación que comenzó en enero pasado el fiscal Ramiro González, a cargo de la Unidad Fiscal para la Investigación de Delitos contra el Medio Ambiente (Ufima).
“Lo preocupante era que estos productos no solo los comercializaban en lugares físicos determinados de forma clandestina, sino que también los publicitaban en diversas redes sociales y plataformas digitales, tales como Facebook, Instagram y Mercado Libre, circunstancias estas que fueron advertidas por los investigadores y que permitieron que, con el total de las pruebas obtenidas, se ordenaran los allanamientos”, explicaron desde la PFA.

Se fabricaba en laboratorios clandestinos.

Para ello, hubo 18 allanamientos simultáneos en Ciudad de Buenos Aires, Provincia de Buenos Aires, en la ciudad de Mar del Plata y en las provincias de San Luis, Mendoza, Córdoba, Santa Fe, Salta, Jujuy y Entre Ríos. Se detuvo a un hombre y una mujer. Otros cinco hombres y cinco mujeres fueron imputados en la causa.

De este modo, se secuestraron tambores de 50 kilos, bidones, recipientes con dióxido de cloro, frascos y bidones de diferentes tamaños conteniendo una sustancia líquida amarillenta rotulada con la sigla ”MMS” e idénticas no rotuladas listas para su comercialización, gran cantidad de productos y sustancias que funcionan como “activadores” al producto principal, un kilo de marihuana, documentación relativa a la comercialización del compuesto, libros escritos por su creador, certificados expedidos y firmado por el principal imputado, teléfonos celulares, dispositivos electrónicos varios, más de U$S40.000, $724.500, monedas de oro austríacas y otros elementos de interés.

Cabe destacar que en siete de los lugares allanados se constató la existencia dependencias que funcionaban como laboratorios clandestinos precarios, con elementos propios para la manipulación de productos químicos, algunos de ellos peligrosos (tubos de ensayos, probetas, balanzas, jeringas, mecheros, máscaras protectoras para gases tóxicos, aparatos de destilación, etc) y que también se elaboraba aceite de cannabis sin sus permisos correspondientes.

Por último, durante las pesquisas realizadas en la ciudad de Merlo, provincia de San Luis, se identificó a un hombre que, además de vender dicho producto prohibido, se le secuestró gran cantidad de elementos alusivos al partido Nacional Socialista Alemán (nazis), por lo que fue imputado por infracción a la ley sobre “Conductas Discriminatorias”.

Wie der Business Insider im September 2020 schrieb, ist der gebürtige Wuppertaler und derzeitige Wahlschweizer vor allem in Südamerika sehr aktiv. Sowohl die Nationale Behörde für Arzneimittel, Lebensmittel und Technologie (ANMAT) in Argentinien als auch die Panamerikanische Gesundheitsorganisation (PAHO) warnten im August 2020 vor der Einnahme von Chlordioxid oder verwandten Stoffen wie Natriumchlorit oder Natriumhypochlorit.

MMS: Meldungen über Todesfälle
Trotzdem mehrten sich in Südamerika Meldungen von Vergiftungen und Todesfällen, nachdem Menschen zum vermeintlichen Schutz vor COVID-19 Chlordioxid eingenommen hatten. Peruanische Medien berichteten im September des letzten Jahres von zahlreichen Vergiftungsfällen in Verbindung mit Chlordioxid, ein Mann soll gestorben sein . Ein fünfjähriger Junge aus der argentinischen Provinz Neuquen soll bereits im August 2020 gestorben sein, nachdem seine Eltern ihm Chlordioxid zu trinken gegeben hatten. Ebenfalls in Argentinien, in der Provinz Jujuy, soll es einen weiteren Toten gegeben haben, einen 50-Jährigen Mann.

Herrje, die kann sich auch einen Hering ins Haar flechten. Die Frage ist: WAS IST MIT KALCKER!? Was hat der Anwalt geschrieben? Wer ist der Anwalt überhaupt?

Diese Geheimniskrämerei nervt echt. Ist Medwatch ein Dings, das die Öffentlichkeit informiert, oder ist das ein Zier-mich-Pflänzchen?

Ich habe mal gehört, daß zum Journalismus Recherche gehört. Ist wohl irgendwo auf der Strecke geblieben...

Die Stadt, in der Kalcker verhaftet wurde, heißt "Merlo" und ist eine Stadt. Auf Spanisch schreibt man "Villa de Merlo". Auf Deutsch heißt das dann "(In der) Stadt Merlo". Und nicht "In der Stadt Milla de Merlo". Nur so nebenbei. Aber der Fehler geht ausnahmsweise nicht auf das Konto von Medwatch.

Da wäre jetzt noch eine Frage: Nachdem Medwatch nun weiß, daß der Kalcker verhaftet wurde, dämmert es denen, wie das ist, wenn man einem Verhafteten per Email Fragen schickt und der die dann mit Material (!) beantwortet? Wie macht der Kalcker das? Allzeit bereit, Notebook immer dabei, auch im Untersuchungsgefängnis? Und WLAN und Mobile Access sowieso? Oder springt er schon wieder draußen frei herum und plant schon den nächsten Coup?

Nachdem wir vor einem Jahr die Organisationsstruktur der Verkäufer aufgedeckt haben, wundern wir uns schon, was in der wundersamen Welt des Journalismus so läuft.

Kalcker stellt Forderungen? Hey, der hat überhaupt nichts zu melden. Und dann droht er auch noch wegen "Falschaussagen" mit "Abmahnung":

Wer soll diesen Bullshit glauben?

Armin Wolf, ein österreichischer Fernsehjournalist, würde dem Kalcker ordentlich eins auf den Scheitel geben. Aber Armin Wolf ist auch nicht bei Medwatch.

Zudem beschäftigen sich einige der Texte mit mechanistischen Aussagen, beispielsweise zum Wirkmechanismus von Chlordioxid. Weiterhin wird die Wirkung von – unter anderem – Chlordioxid als Mittel zur Desinfektion von Wasser oder Gerätschaften vorgestellt. Ebenso wurde gezeigt, dass gasförmiges Chlordioxid Viren zerstört und so bei Versuchstieren eine Infektion mit diesen Viren verhinderte. All das ist bereits bekannt.

Auf diesen Teil "er beantwortet sogar Anfragen?" gehen die Medwatchinen gar nicht ein. Warum nicht? Kämen da sonst noch mehr Ungereimtheiten zutage?

Wenn ICH Einem vom Schlage eines Kalcker eine Mail schicken würde, würde ich fragen, wo er gerade ist und wie es ihm geht. "Herr Kalcker, wie geht es Ihnen? Sind Sie im Knast?  Sollen wir eine Feile schicken?" Wird man doch fragen dürfen. Also, WIR dürfen das auf jeden Fall fragen.

A Miami Florida federal jury has convicted Mark Grenon, 65, and his sons, Jonathan, 37, Joseph, 35, and Jordan, 29, of selling $1 million worth of Miracle Mineral Solution (MMS)

*** The FDA received reports of people requiring hospitalizations, developing life-threatening conditions, and even dying after drinking MMS.

*** The Grenons used Genesis II Church of Health and Healing, an entity they described as a “non-religious church,” to try to avoid government regulation of MMS and to protect themselves from prosecution.

*** MMS could only be acquired through a “donation” to the church, but donation amounts were set at specific dollar amounts and were mandatory,

When four family members were charged in 2020, father Mark Grenon and his son Joseph Grenon were hiding in Colombia.

The Bogata government agreed to extradite them on the condition that they would only be charged with a conspiracy to defraud the U.S. government, which limited their punishment to a maximum of five years.

A father and his three sons — all convicted of selling a toxic bleach solution as a “miracle” cure through a fake online Florida church — protested their prison sentences imposed by a federal judge on Friday, saying the punishment was “harsh.”

The sentencing hearing in Miami federal court took an unusual turn when the father, Mark Grenon, told the judge that he was actually the victim. He argued that his 1,152 days in custody amounted to “kidnapping” and the U.S. government should compensate him $5.76 million for being “held unlawfully.” “Yes or no?” Grenon, 66, asked U.S. District Judge Cecilia Altonaga.

“That’s a nonsensical question,” Altonaga told Grenon. “I won’t answer that.”

In short order, Altonaga sentenced the father to five years in prison, fined him $5,000 and ordered him to pay $1,948 in restitution to victims of the Bradenton family’s scheme of selling “Mineral Miracle Solution” to thousands of consumers across the country.

The judge also sentenced one of his sons, Joseph Grenon, 36, to five years, with no fine, but imposed the same restitution order.

When the four family members were charged in 2020, the father and Joseph Grenon were hiding in Colombia, according to federal authorities.

The U.S. government sought their extradition. The Bogota government turned them over on the condition that they would only be charged with a conspiracy to defraud the U.S. government, which limited their punishment to a maximum of five years. Separate contempt of court charges were dismissed against them before trial.

The father’s other two sons were not as lucky to catch that break. The judge sentenced Jonathan Grenon, 37, and Jordan Grenon, 29, to more than 12 years in prison because they were convicted of the main conspiracy charge and a pair of contempt charges stemming from their violation of court orders to stop selling the dangerous mineral solution to the public.

Jonathan was not fined, but his brother Jordan was ordered to pay $2,500. Both were also ordered to pay the same restitution as the other family members.

The Grenons represented themselves at their trial and sentencing hearing, though court-appointed defense attorneys were on standby if required.

At Friday’s hearing, the Grenons did not allow those lawyers to speak on their behalf. At trial and during sentencing, prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office portrayed the four defendants as con men who used a phony religious front on a website, the Genesis II Church of Health and Healing, to sell $1 million worth of their “Miracle Mineral Solution” in video pitches as a cure for 95% of the world’s known diseases, from AIDS to the coronavirus. They called it a “scam for money.”

“The defendants preyed on many vulnerable populations,” including children with autism, Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Homer said Friday.

He told the judge that the Grenon family members have never shown any remorse for their crime.

At the sentencing hearing, the four defendants invoked their faith in God and Jesus repeatedly, saying they did not “consent” to the judicial proceedings and should be released after spending about three years in custody in both the United States and Colombia.

“I have lost everything,” said Jonathan Grenon, adding that he was married with five sons. “I believe I should be released to my family.”

The other two brothers made similar pleas for mercy, to no avail.

In July, after deliberating for only 30 minutes, the Miami federal jury found all four defendants guilty of conspiring to defraud the U.S. government and the Food and Drug Administration by distributing an unapproved and misbranded drug, Miracle Mineral Solution (MMS).

During the trial, Homer and fellow prosecutor John Shipley said the Grenons called themselves “bishops” and peddled MMS as “sacraments” to consumers in South Florida and other parts of the United States in exchange for a “donation” to the Genesis church, before the Food and Drug Administration cracked down on the family in 2020.

The Grenons were charged that April with conspiring to defraud the U.S. government after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic when they defied FDA and court orders to stop distributing the toxic MMS substance.

Their criminal case was the first pandemic-related enforcement action in Florida.

In public warnings, FDA said it received several reports of hospitalizations and life-threatening conditions as people drank the dangerous substance.

MMS is a chemical solution containing sodium chlorite that, when mixed with water and a citric acid “activator,” turns into chlorine dioxide, a powerful bleach typically used for industrial water treatment or bleaching textiles, pulp and paper.

At trial, Altonaga, the judge, gave an instruction to jurors that the Grenons could not use the First Amendment, specifically religious freedom, as a defense for selling the dangerous product because their so-called church was not a religious entity.

In his closing argument, Shipley hit home on that point. “You cannot go out and create a fake church and violate the law,” he argued.

During the trial, a Food and Drug Administration agent testified about three Grenon-produced videos that pitched the solution as a cure for cancer, lung cancer and COVID-19, among other deadly diseases.

“We are trying to create a world without disease,” Mark Grenon said in one video, pitching the MMS substance. “It’s been proven to be tremendously effective in curing cancer.”

Another video, dated March 8, 2020, was titled: “The coronavirus is curable. Do you believe it? You better!”

Homer asked the FDA agent, Jose Rivera, if there’s a cure for the coronavirus, which can cause severe respiratory disease and death. “No, there isn’t,” Rivera said.

To bolster his investigation, Rivera, under a different name, said he bought multiple bottles of the Grenons’ MMS product through their website at $15, $20 and $30 each. They were shipped to addresses in Florida and Georgia.

In one instance, Rivera complained that his fictional wife, who was portrayed as battling cancer, did not improve after taking the substance for three weeks.

The agent testified that he received an email from one of Grenon’s sons saying that she would have to use it for a longer period of time to be effective.

Prosecutors said the Grenon family’s religious front, the Genesis II Church of Health and Healing, sold tens of thousands of MMS orders in violation of federal law since 2010.
