EC makes further commitment to saving lives
The European Commission gave a shot at a healthy life to children in Africa, and the Caribbean and Pacific regions today by committing an additional 20 million Euros to GAVI to fund a life-saving vaccine against five deadly childhood diseases.

Tackling the two biggest killers of children in Africa
Vaccines will prevent millions of cases of pneumonia and diarrhoea in Africa. Burundi will become the tenth African country to roll out the new pneumococcal vaccine, with Ethiopia to follow soon. Decisions on new rotavirus and pneumococcal vaccine applications will announced on 27 September.

Benefits of rotavirus vaccine: new findings
According to a new CDC study, vaccinating infants against rotavirus also prevents serious disease in unvaccinated older children and adults, helping to reduce rotavirus-related hospital costs in these older groups.
