Elisabeth von Wedel (geb. 1963) ist eine Heilpraktikerin aus Jever bei Wilhelmshaven, die sich aktiv für die Verbreitung der Homöopathie einsetzt. Sie ist Gründungsmitglied des Vereins Homöopathen ohne Grenzen und war bis 2016 Vorsitzende des Vereins, dessen Ziel die Einführung der Homöopathie in Krisengebieten und Regionen mit schlechter medizinischer Versorgung ist. Seit 1992 betreibt von Wedel eine Praxis für klassische Homöopathie in Jever und seit 2012 eine weitere in Oldenburg.

Von 1986 bis 1989 besuchte von Wedel die Heilpraktikerschule Joseph Angerer in München. Sie wirbt außerdem mit einem Universitätsabschluss (MSc, Master of Science) in Homöopathie der University of Central Lancashire UCLAN in Preston, England, aus dem Jahr 2009. Hierbei handelt es sich um ein Fernstudium (e-Learning). Kritiker bemängelten bei diesem Studiengang Unwissenschaftlichkeit und fehlende Transparenz, woraufhin er im Sommer 2008 von der UCLAN ausgesetzt wurde.[2][3][4] Seit 2010 wurde er aber wieder angeboten.[5] Prüfungen sind nicht vorgesehen.

Position zu Impfungen

Von Wedel ist Impfgegnerin. Sie bestreitet, dass Impfungen einen sicheren Schutz gegen Infektionskrankheiten bieten und behauptet, "dass ungeimpfte Kinder sich einer stabileren Gesundheit erfreuen als geimpfte", was angeblich durch "etliche klinische Studien" belegt sei. Masern seien wie Mumps, Röteln oder Windpocken "noch immer keine lebensbedrohlichen Infekte, sondern Kinderkrankheiten".[6] Den Nutzen einer hohen Durchimpfungsrate bestreitet sie ebenfalls: "Für mich gehört das in den Bereich der Sagen, zu sagen: Impfen wir doch alle einfach durch, und dann haben wir das Problem mit den Masern ein für alle Mal besiegt.[1] Sie versucht das u.a. mit der Behauptung zu begründen, dass China eine 99%ige Durchimpfungsrate habe und es dort dennoch Masernepidemien gebe. Tatsächlich ist die Impfrate in China regional unterschiedlich und noch weit von den behaupteten 99% entfernt.[7]

Im Zusammenhang mit der Häufung von Masernfällen Anfang 2015 in Berlin erklärte von Wedel im März 2015 in der ARD-Sendung hart aber fair, das Problem sei "hausgemacht", weil Mütter die Krankheit infolge von Impfungen nicht mehr durchgemacht haben und daher keinen Nestschutz (eine vorübergehende natürliche Immunisierung von Neugeborenen) an ihre Kinder weitergeben könnten.[1] Als positives Gegenbeispiel nannte sie ihre eigene erwachsene Tochter, die nicht geimpft wurde und im Kindesalter Masern durchmachte. Das Argument ist unsinnig. Erstens geben auch geimpfte Frauen an ihre Kinder Antikörper weiter (wenngleich dieser Schutz schwächer ist, als wenn die Mutter eine "echte" Maserninfektion durchlebt hat). Zweitens handelte es sich bei der Masernepidemie in Berlin nicht um ein Problem der Infektion von Neugeborenen, sondern des fehlenden Impfschutzes bei älteren Personen.

Kurse

Seit 2011 bietet von Wedel zusammen mit dem Heilpraktiker Kai Lindner (geb. 1961) aus Bremen eine "zertifizierte Ausbildung zur klassischen Homöopathie" an. Die Zertifizierung wurde von der Stiftung Homöopathie-Zertifikat (SHZ) vergeben (siehe Jörg Wichmann). Darüber hinaus wirbt von Wedel damit, auf Anfrage als Dozentin für "Selbsthilfegruppen, Kindergärten oder auch andere Kreise die sich mit Gesundheit im weitesten Sinne auseinandersetzen möchten" zur Verfügung zu stehen,[8] z.B. zu den Themen:

    "Homöopathie in der Altersheilkunde - was die sanfte Medizin in unserem letzten Lebensjahrzehnt leisten kann"
    "ADHS und Wahrnehmungsstörungen aus der Sicht der Homöopathie"
    "Homöopathie in der Kinderheilkunde: kleine Globuli ganz groß!"
    "Impfungen aus der Sicht der Naturheilkunde"
    "Die Erfolge der Homöopathie bei Posttraumatischen Störungen"
    "Rheumatische Erkrankungen - was hat die Homöopathie und die Naturheilkunde zu bieten?"

Nachdem die UCLAN (University of Central Lancashire) beim Bachelor of Science für Homöopathie einen Rückzieher gemacht, hat sie offensichtlich klammheimlich den DOKTOR der Homöopathie weiterbetrieben.

Diese Webseite ist bei der UCLAN nicht mehr vorhanden, aber im Web-Archive durchaus.  8)

Course Content

The course consists of 9 modules in total that are normally taken part-time over 3 years with the following modules in each of those years.

Year 1:
Research which includes governance/ethics, philosophy of science and research methods. It covers all basic methodology but particularly asks that we consider issues in homeopathic research
Deconstructing Practice  is about challenging the 'myths' in homeopathy and looking at what they are based on. We also try to distinguish between rhetoric and reality in homeopathic knowledge. This may feel uncomfortable for some because it asks us to critically reflect upon our knowledge base
Developing practice builds on the critical reasoning in healthcare and asks the students to identify ways in which we can make a positive contribution to the knowledge base. In this module the students work together to actually construct rather than deconstruct.

Year 2 has one compulsory module (Advancing Homeopathy Practice) plus a choice of 2 out of a number of other modules: , Inspiring Education, a Student Initiated Module (SIM), Perspectives in Integrated Health, Therapeutic Relationships, Research and Ethics Governance, Applying Methods in Health Research. Therapeutic Relationships asks students to critically evaluate the conceptual and evidence-based framework of the ‘therapeutic relationship’ in order to critically reflect on the current status of this within homeopathic practice; Inspiring Education provides the intending and existing teacher of homeopathy with a forum to debate and discuss the contemporary issues, policy and initiatives which are constantly emerging both nationally and internationally within homeopathy; the Student Initiated Module allows students to undertake a negotiated project within a framework, which supports, facilitates and evaluates their own practice development process; Research , Ethics and Governance  aims to facilitate progression from theory to practice in research within a clear ethical framework. It acts as a bridging module between the theoretical study of research and governance to the conduct of an approved empirical research project.  Advancing Homeopathy Practice facilitates the  development of students’ skills and knowledge base in relation to the practice of homeopathy, allowing an exploration and critical discernment of the methods/methodologies which underpin their own practice.  Perspectives on Integrated Health  examines the both philosophical and practical implications of the provision of an integrated healthcare system or service. A through examination of working models and exploration of contemporary debate will take place when students will critically analyse the meaning, challenges and benefits of integrated healthcare.Applying Methods in Health Research  aims to build upon knowledge and skills obtained in  Introduction to Postgraduate Research to focus in an in-depth manner on methods specifically used in health and health service research. 

Year 3
Triple module dissertation allows for in-depth study and research into a particular area of interest. The topic is negotiated with a tutor and the project is fully supervised

Assessment:

Depending on choice of optional modules, assessment will include: Essays, critical reflective account, written reports, project work, presentation of research proposal, development of survey questionnaire, development of teaching materials, summary of recommendations for clinical practice, participation in a mock ethics committee. dissertation of 20,000 words.
Learning Environment:

The course is delivered by e-learning and is therefore potentially accessible to homeopaths in all parts of the world. It utilises www (web) technology to deliver multimedia teaching materials and includes live interactive sessions on a regular basis. On-line activities are supported by e-mail contact with tutors and peer groups, message boarding and scheduled live personal tutorials.
The course will be conducted in spoken and written English. It offers postgraduate education for career development and continuing professional development.
