Russia seems almost unable to mobilize new troops & the old troops have had it in the north. The fourth tank army reported that 90% of its tanks in storage were out of order because somebody had their electronics. Putin's regime is too kleptocratic to pursue a modern war.

-----------------------------------------
Anders Åslund @anders_aslund

Ukraine has more tanks than when the war started, while Russia has lost two-thirds of its tanks (705!). Russia has lost 136 of its 240 helicopters in the theater, so it has stopped using them for at least the last three days, while Ukraine has started helicopter operations.

Russia has also lost 151 airplanes, nearly half of its 375 planes deployed to Ukraine, and 19,100 killed soldiers. The Russian soldiers have no incentive to fight & the newly mobilized troops are few and of poor quality. Ukraine is likely to win also the battle of the Donbass.

Yet, Ukraine needs all the arms the West can deliver asap. The more arms Ukraine receives, the fewer people will die in Putin's war. Massive and early arms deliveries to Ukraine is the most peaceful measure in this war.

Russia's T-14 Armata
Reports say Russia has 12,400 tanks which is the largest in the world with Ukraine possessing 2,586 tanks. Ukraine has 74 T-64 tanks against Russia's 2,000.

Ukraine also has 3,666 T-72 tanks however Russia has nearly twice that number at 9,950. Clearly as far as size is concerned the tank strength of the two countries is greatly mismatched.

Russia has in fact developed the T-14 Armata and has already produced 2,300 even since it was unveiled in 2015. It was battle-tested in Syria. It has state of the art laser-guided missiles with Kord 12.7mm and PKTM 7.62mm machine gun.

The T-14 can reportedly withstand nuclear, biological and chemical attacks. Russia currently has 20 T-14s which could prove to be a big hurdle for Ukraine's forces.

Every Russian soldier brings a piece of Chornobyl to home. Alive or dead - Herman Galushchenko

All occupants who have been in the Alienation Zone received large doses of contamination, their military equipment is also infected.

Herman Galushchenko, Minister of Energy, said this following a visit to the Exclusion Zone and the Chornobyl nuclear power plant.

💬"The discontent of Russian soldiers is as high as the dosimeters we used to check the radiation background at the locations of the detainees. They dug soil contaminated with radioactivity, put radioactive dust into containers for shielding, and used this saw. After a month of such sampling they had a maximum of one year to live. More precisely, not life, but death by disease" - said the Minister.

He said the Russian troops ransacked the station, administrative offices and took everything from crockery to spare parts and appliances.

💬 "Not only all the occupants' personnel and "trophies" were taken, but also all the military equipment that passed through Chornobyl - about 10,000 units. Every Russian soldier brings a piece of Chornobyl home. Alive or dead", - said Herman Galushchenko.

He also said that the metal is well amenable to humiliation and can bear the radiation. This poses a threat of radioactive contamination to all those who come into contact with equipment from the CEA.

💬 "The Russians are killing everyone: Ukrainians are being killed by bombs and their own by radioactive contamination from the CHAES," the minister said.

During his visit, Herman Galushchenko also met and talked to the CHAES staff.

💬"Appreciate the courageous men and women for their patience. They are real heroes! All disrupted we will soon restore, and now we will create a rotation of changes and return the work of the service station to normal" - commented Herman Galushchenko.

April 8 at 4:01 AM ·

Leonid Pronin Ruslan Biletsky According to the normative documents "for workers the average annual effective dose is equal to 0,02 sievert or effective dose over a period of employment (50 years) - 1 sievert; the annual effective dose to 0,05 sievert is allowed, provided that the average annual effective dose, calculated for five consecutive years, does not exceed 0.02 sievert. It means that the value of 12.8 micro sieverts per hour (i.e. 0.1121 sieverts per year) exceeds the annual norm by a factor of 5.6. Congratulations to Russia's sick soldiers. You can already write ballads about the dementia of their command 😅

Most of the commenters are fucking stupid. What is important: The box radiates 12.8 uSievert/hour. That box was in the area for a short time. What the Russian soldiers got was MUCH MORE, because they dug into the soil in that area, which is the most contaminated in the whole Chornobyl disaster. The Russian soldiers received uncounted times as much. So they now will radiate much more than those 12.8 uSievert/hour. It is WITHIN them!

Manual for Survival: An Environmental History of the Chernobyl Disaster
Kate Brown (Author)

After the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986, international aid organizations sought to help the victims but were stymied by post-Soviet political roadblocks. Efforts to gain access to the site of catastrophic radiation damage were denied, and the residents of Chernobyl were given no answers as their lives hung in the balance. Drawing on a decade of archival research and on-the-ground interviews in Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus, Kate Brown unveils the full breadth of the devastation and the whitewash that followed. Her findings make clear the irreversible impact of man-made radioactivity on every living thing; and hauntingly, they force us to confront the untold legacy of decades of weapons-testing and other catastrophic nuclear incidents.

Full embargo on oil could stop war - ex-Putin aide

The war in Ukraine could be ended if western countries stopped buying Russian oil and gas, says President Putin's former chief economic adviser
A "real embargo" on Russian energy by Western countries could stop war in Ukraine, President Putin's former chief economic adviser has suggested.

Dr Andrei Illarionov said Russia "did not take seriously" other countries' threats to reduce their energy usage.

Despite trying to reduce its reliance on Russian sources, Europe is continuing to buy oil and gas.

Last year, soaring prices meant oil and gas revenues accounted for 36% of Russia's government spending.

Much of that income comes from the European Union, which imports about 40% of its gas and 27% of its oil from Russia.

This week, its top diplomat Josep Borrell said "a billion [euros] is what we pay Putin every day for the energy he supplies us".

Could the world cope without Russian oil and gas?
Dr Illarionov said if Western countries "would try to implement a real embargo on oil and gas exports from Russia... I would bet that probably within a month or two, Russian military operations in Ukraine, probably will be ceased, will be stopped".

"It's one of the very effective instruments still in the possession of the Western countries," he added.

Dr Andrei Illarionov, President Putin's chief economic adviser from 2000 to 2005, says a total energy embargo would be "very effective".
While the oil and gas trade has continued during the conflict, widespread sanctions mean that a lot of other economic activity has stopped, many foreign companies have pulled out and exports have been disrupted.

One recent survey by Russia's own central bank even forecasts the economy will shrink by 8% this year, while the International Institute of Finance says it could fall by as much as 15%.

Dr Illarionov suggested that President Putin was prepared to endure a hit to the economy that shows where his priorities lie.

"His territorial ambitions, his imperial ambitions, are much more important than anything else, including the livelihood of the Russian population and of the financial situation in the country... even the financial state of the his government," he said.

Jobs under threat
Last week, amid tensions with Europe over how gas would be paid for, President Putin said that "key indicators" of the health of the Russian economy include the "creation of jobs, the reduction of poverty and inequality, the improvement of the quality of life of people, the availability of goods and services".

World Bank figures suggest that almost 20 million Russians live in poverty.

President Putin has, in recent years, pledged to halve that number.

Now Dr Illarionov said "we'll see probably doubling the number of those people, maybe even tripling" as the economy struggles.

Media caption,

The Moscow-based think tank, the Centre for Strategic Research, estimated two million jobs could be lost this year as the unemployment rate rises from a record low.

Those concerns are shared by Vladimir Milov, who is a former Russian deputy energy minister, but is now part of Alexei Navalny's Russia of the Future opposition party.

"Many people are concerned about losing their jobs, I think it's just that the majority does not really realise the severity of the economic situation," he said.

Inflation, which has already risen to 15.7% because of the war, means people might stop spending money on things such as gyms and meals in restaurants and "that's bad news for a lot of small businesses", said Mr Milov.

Some basic food items such as sugar, onions and cabbages have risen in price by more than 40% since the start of this year.

Mr Milov said any noticeable falls in living standards would help his party's cause as an opposition.

"We have been explaining to people all along [that] Putin's policy would lead Russia into a catastrophe, including a complete social and economic catastrophe, including [a] deterioration of living standards that we haven't seen in decades," he said.

"I have to say that comes at an extremely high price. We would prefer not to see what is happening today."

Will Russia be able to pay its debts?
Canada pledges to help states stop using Russian oil
Ukraine war is economic catastrophe - World Bank
However Mr Milov, who fled to Lithuania last year, thinks it will take time for falling living standards to translate to political change.

"Russia is a country with big inertia in society, and a lot of fear instigated by the authorities. Specifically people really are very much afraid of protesting because right now they can end up in jail for a long, long time for doing that".

He added: "But I would say [that within a] few months [of] real deep economic trouble, that we haven't seen in 30 years, it will change the mood of the society. More people will start to speak out loudly."

President Putin's former adviser Dr Andrei Illarionov, who now lives in the United States, said a change of government is inevitable "sooner or later".

He said "it is absolutely impossible to have any positive future for Russia, with the current political regime".

Under President Putin, he suggested, "there is no way that country might be integrated back into the international relations, in the world economy".

You can watch Dr Andrei Illarionov and Vladimir Milov's interviews on Talking Business with Aaron Heslehurst this weekend.

Once again about nuclear terrorism and new nominees for the Darwin prize

It's about the situation in the CEA, in the city of Chornobyl, the "activity" of the Russian invaders in the Chornobyl zone, the rhythm of the trenches in the Rudomu Forest, the pollution received there and the further "prospects".

According to the Ukrainian State Agency for Exclusion Zone Management (DAZV), two laboratories in Chernobyl functioned to investigate current problems of radiation exposure, product characteristics, and variants of exposure to radioactive materials.

The central analytical laboratory for the characterization of radioactive waste (RAW) was destroyed by the occupants at the state enterprise "Ecocenter". They managed to unintentionally enter the storage of ionizing impromptu radioactive substances and calibration devices and snatched 133 of them with a total activity of about 7 million Becquerels. This can be compared with 700 kg of RAW with presence of beta- and gamma-impromnation.

Even a fraction of this activity is lethal if handled unprofessionally or uncontrollably. Where these sources are now - nobody knows!

The Russian marauders also looted the offices and laboratory of the Institute for Security Problems of the AES. They took away computers and office equipment, smashed or destroyed laboratory equipment and measuring devices, as well as robbed garages of vehicles used to transport scientists to research sites.

The laboratories were equipped with ionizing vibration sources and samples of flammable materials from the "Ukritta" site, which the scientists used for research. Where these materials are also not known.

The most ironic thing is that the occupants took the sources of the bombardment and the pieces of flame "as souvenirs", and then these "heroes" will take away the Darwin prizes even from those condemned criminals who spent a month in the wilderness of the Ore Mountains, staying there. Carrying such a souvenir with you for two days will inevitably lead to radiation poisoning, intermittent disease and inhumane processes in the body.

Russland: Eine finnische Nato-Mitgliedschaft bringt keine Stabilität

Here’s “Donetsk People’s Republic” defense spokesman Eduard Basurin advocating the use of “chemical troops” against Mariupol’s last-remaining defenders. “They’ll find a way to smoke these moles out of their holes,” he says.

Russian flagship 'Moskva' sent to hell!

Russian flagship 'seriously damaged' after blast

The cruiser - which became the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet in 2000 - played a key role during Russia's military campaign in Syria, which began in 2015.

The Moskva is the flagship of the Black Sea FleetImage caption: The Moskva is the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet
More on Russia's Moskva missile cruiser, which Moscow says has been badly damaged by a fire.

Ukraine earlier claimed the warship was hit by Ukraine-made Neptune missiles.

Ukrainian presidential aide Oleksiy Arestovych said Russian rescuers were unable to reach the vessel, which could have had as many as 510 crew members on board.

"It has been confirmed that the missile cruiser Moskva today went exactly where it was sent by our border guards on Snake Island!" Odesa regional governor Maksym Marchenko wrote in his Telegram post.

He was referring to an incident that reportedly happened on the first day of the Russian invasion on 24 February.

The Moskva cruiser back then approached Ukraine's Snake Island, a rocky outcrop in the Black Sea, demanding that a small border guard garrison immediately surrender.

But the border guards refused to do so, with one of them telling the warship: "Go to hell!"

Ukrainian officials initially said all the border guards died - but later reports suggested they were taken prisoner to Russia-annexed Crimea.

The incident has since become a famous war meme in Ukraine.

About 3 weeks ago an article was published, which completely fell out of the ordinary range. And nobody seems to have noticed it. It was a blitz.

Is Putin's Invasion Failing Because Russian Intelligence Embezzled Billions Intended As Bribes For Ukrainians?

It's even  wilder than the headline suggests. The FSB embezzled every dime of the billions in bribe money intended for Ukraine, which they figured was a low risk crime because no one - not even Putin - would be crazy enough to invade Ukraine, the largest country in Europe, and the bribe money was in cash so there was no accounting. Meaning no one would miss the dough.
But then Putin announced he WAS going to invade. And the military made clear it wouldn't do so unless the Ukrainian military had been bought off so it wouldn't fight, which the FSB had assured everyone had been taken care of. But since they hadn't been bought off, the FSB had a big problem. Which they attempted to solve by leaking the invasion news to the US (hence Biden's preternaturally superb intelligence on the invasion, including assassination attempts on Zelensky) hoping that would dissuade Putin. And the rest, as they say, is history. JL

Mary Frances Fitzgerald reports in The Times:

Sergey Beseda, head of the FSB 5th-Branch (Ukraine portfolio), has been arrested, along with his deputy, Anatoly Bolyukh for embezzlement from the state. The whole of the FSB 5th-Branch is under criminal investigation and many are also under arrest for embezzlement. For years Putin has been placing billions of dollars into the 5th-Branch budget for bribing Ukrainian military, secret service, internal security officers, and politicians. (But) Beseda and Anatoly Bolyukh have been embezzling every dime of the bribe budget, billions of dollars. And everyone in the 5th-Branch was getting a piece of the action. It was the perfect crime as spy bribes are paid in cash and (they thought) not even Putin was crazy enough to invade Ukraine
I am going to tell you a story which explains how and why Vladimir Putin (and the Russian military) so horribly misjudged the Ukrainian war, a war, the outcome of which, will change the future of our planet Earth.

It is well known that Sergey Beseda, head of the FSB 5th-Branch (Ukraine portfolio), has been arrested, along with his deputy, Anatoly Bolyukh. (The FSB is basically the former KGB.) (Beseda is a very high-ranking spy, his rank the equivalent of a U.S. 4-star general, Bolyukh a 3-star.)

It is also known that Beseda and Bolyukh were arrested for something that at first glance seems rather strange--embezzlement from the state. Publicly unknown, but interesting indeed is, the whole of the FSB 5th-Branch is under criminal investigation and many are under arrest for...embezzlement from the state.

Unknown to most is that for years Vladimir Putin has been placing billions of dollars into the 5th-Branch budget for the express and sole purpose of bribing Ukrainian officials, that is, military officers, Ukrainian secret service officers, Ukrainian internal security officers, and politicians. After Yanukovych was ejected in 2014, Putin got serious about bringing Ukraine back into the fold.

Here is the fun part. I am told by people I know (who are still in the game) that for years Sergey Beseda and Anatoly Bolyukh have been embezzling every dime of the bribe budget--literally billions of dollars. And everyone in the 5th-Branch was getting a piece of the action, all the way down to the field operatives who were supposed to be doing all the bribing. It was the perfect crime, spy bribes are paid in cash, and nobody, not even Vladimir Putin was crazy enough to invade Ukraine so nobody in the FSB was ever going to try to collect on the bribes that were never paid.

And this went on for years--since at least 2014.

Until, late last year.

Sometime in the October-November 2021 time-frame, Vladimir Putin called a meeting with a select few people, including Beseda and Bolyukh, and told them that Russia was going to invade Ukraine.

To have seen the look on the faces of Beseda and Bolyukh, because once again, none of the preparatory Ukrainian bribes had ever been paid. Putin had been given reports saying they had been paid, but in reality, not a penny had ever been spent on bribing--Ukrainians.

And as the story goes, Vladimir Putin was depending on--actually counting on--all these bribes having been paid. Because during the meeting, Putin discounted any resistance from Ukraine, saying all he had to do was kick on the door and the whole country would fall--in two days--because for years the FSB 5th-Branch had been doing such a good job at bribing Ukrainians.

I shi* you not.

The Russian army and air force signed off on the plan, with the assurance that the Ukrainian military was bribed and would not fight. The plan even included sending Russian police officers in the first wave of attack (to direct and control traffic in Kyiv) because according to the FSB 5th-Branch there was not going to be any resistance.

Beseda and Bolyukh (indeed the whole of the FSB 5th-Branch) now had a problem. A very big problem indeed.

What do spies do when they have a problem (that they want to keep secret from the boss) and they can`t solve all by themselves? They go talk to other spies and ask if they will help them solve their problem. And that is exactly what Sergey Beseda and Anatoly Bolyukh did.

It is well known that US intelligence (CIA) had very fine-grained, exact, precise, perfect, word-for-word intelligence on Putin`s invasion plans very early on in the game. Yep. You guessed it.

The perfect way to keep the secret about the whole FSB embezzlement scheme was to make certain there was no invasion. And the best way to make sure there was no invasion was to tell the CIA that there was going to be an invasion. And that is exactly what happened. Sergey Beseda and Anatoly Bolyukh gave it up. All of it. And kept giving it up, hoping beyond hope that once the secret was out, Vladimir Putin would call the Ukrainian invasion off.

And this is why President Biden (the CIA and MI-6) had months of advance warning and a crystal clear view into Putin`s invasion plans, the FSB 5th-Branch, almost everybody in the 5th-Branch was mainlining intelligence into CIA/MI-6 in a vain attempt to save their lives.

Sergey Beseda and Anatoly Bolyukh?

Yeah, you won`t be seeing them again.

Some of this is partially backed up by the OMON (Russian riot police) who got wiped out trying to get into Kyiv in the first few days of invasion.

Yeah cause the russian system is 100% corrupt. Even the FSB. If this were true there would be a big number of FSB officers getting shot in white tiled basements rooms now. Why is everyone so naive today?

Hahaha ... the amount of ppl commenting on some small blog about this beeing fake news etc is quite a tell ... lot of putin trolls defending their bastard in chief ruling over his personal mafia state.
I would like to say that i'm feeling schadenfreude that this bloody dictator has to finally eat his own shit, but truth is that at least 10k russian soldiers, poor ppl from dagestan etc, tricked into signing contracts paid the toll for that in blood somewhere in the ukrainian mud.

Well, just considering the facts.

- The Russian army prepared for an easy ride to Kiev. Failed! We are almost in a month of war!
-It is a fact that whoever advised Putin and his army failed, and it is known that they were removed and are missing.
- The western allies have been saying for months that this war/invasion would happen and this way. How did they know?

Just watch what is happening to see that this post makes perfect sense.

Don't call people who are interested in actual sources trolls please. I was one of them above and thanks to the later poster for the Twitter thread I know now it is a credible theory, not just something someone made up and potentially faked a source for.

Down with Putin and the rest of his elite.

Perhaps people didn't react because it was beyond their imagination. But now the Daily Mail in UK brought a counterpart, which tells the same story. It took 3 weeks until we had a second source. The whole plot explains why the invasion fall flat: Putin expected to conquer Ukraine in 2 or 3 days. Now shithead Flattimir Putain stands with his back to the wall. The "Moskva" is only one of many assets he already lost. And more losses are ahead. MANY MORE LOSSES! His days are counted.

A Russian-Israeli businessman has claimed Russia's defence minister Sergei Shoigu has suffered a heart attack, which he suspects was caused by foul play.

Shoigu, who has been Putin's right hand man and leader of the Russian army for a decade, was a mainstay in the early weeks of the war in Ukraine but recently disappeared from regular Kremlin briefings.

There had been suspicions of tensions between Putin and Shoigu in late March over the invasion's slow progress, with US intelligence suggesting the pair fell out when Putin learned of the extent of Russian losses in Ukraine.

But Shoigu, 66, is now thought to be in intensive care after suffering 'a massive heart attack' which 'could not have occurred due to natural causes', according to Leonid Nevzlin, suggesting Putin's longtime ally may have been the subject of an assassination attempt ordered by his boss.

Shoigu was last seen on yesterday on a video conference with Putin and other ministers about the development of the Arctic but did not speak, and there is speculation the Kremlin is using previously recorded footage of Shoigu since his withdrawal from public appearances weeks ago.

Nevzlin, a former media mogul and top oil executive, is one of several Russian businessmen forced to flee when they were targeted by the Kremlin in 2003, after Putin decided to seize the Yukos oil company.

He was sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment in 2008 as the Kremlin persecuted Yukos' top executives, and last month announced he was renouncing his Russian passport and declared 'everything Putin touches dies'.

Citing sources in Moscow, Nevzlin today declared: 'Shoigu is out of the game, and may be disabled if he survives.

'Rumor has it that a heart attack could have occurred not due to natural causes.'

He went on to say that 20 Russian generals have been arrested in Russia and charged with embezzling up to 10 billion dollars allocated to the war effort in Ukraine.

Nevzlin alleged that 'all the headquarters' had been arrested and had been syphoning funds destined to prop up Ukraine's 'Russian liberators' since 2014, after the annexation of Crimea and the beginning of conflict in the Donbas.

'Everything is clear here - the total embezzlement of funds for the preparation of [taking over the leadership of Ukraine]. Since 2014, about $10 billion (USD) allocated by Putin for the preparation of the blitzkrieg has been stolen.'

If the exiled businessman's claims prove to be true, it would confirm suspicions of a major disconnect between Putin and the highest ranking members of Russia's army and security services.

Waffenlieferungen: Was sind eigentlich schwere Waffen?

Was halten Sie davon?
